Without Roberson, how can anyone feel confident on Wednesday?

I hate to say it because I want to be positive for the Buffs, but we are bad team without Roberson cleaning the glass and defending the post. Oregon was the exception. Oregon State showed that you can easily beat us by playing zone. Oregon State has the worst defense in the league by far, yet they completely shut us down.

I don't feel too good about this matchup on Wednesday unless we get Roberson back. They have way more size on the inside than us, and Scott hasn't been the same since the concussion. I would take a 50% Roberson right now.

If no Roberson, we really need Dinwiddie to step up and take over. Booker has shown to be completely unreliable with his shot, and I'm expecting another 3/13 shooting performance. I wish he could play under control and defer to teammates unless he has a wide open shot.

The other guys must play better. Scott needs to breakout of his slump. XJ needs to rebound the ball. Chen needs to play his hardest and force some turnovers. Talton needs to hit a few threes. Also, Adams needs to hit a few shots.

This could be the game that determines whether we make it in or not.

I hope we can see sneak in if we lose because our team played well all year and deserves to go to the tourney IMO. I wish Roberson could come back on Wednesday.

While Booker has been completely off for the second part of the season. To an incredibly bad level. I will not give up on him having a good game. Last year, he was one of our few players that played well against the zone.

Wednesday will be okay because the team should be upset Oregon State beat them at home and will play more focused.

CU without Roberson probably won't beat Arizona Thursday

Because 1. The team isn't going to come out lolly gagging like they did Saturday and 2. We just had a very bad night shooting. We're not going to shoot 35% again from inside the three point line nor is Spencer going to go 4-12 from inside the three point line and 2-8 from beyond.

I think people are looking way to into that loss. We came out with no energy and played lazy defense at times combined with no one except SHT having even a decent shooting day. We will be fine.

To answer the question, I'd say no. He's the nations defensive POY. Can't lose him right before a tourney and expect the kind of results we've been putting up all year.

Oregon state plays a weird defense, and it catches teams off guard. If teams are prepared (which CU will be on wednesday), it is easily broken, and CU wins big. Problem is CU did not come out prepared (admited by Boyle), and they were not prepared. They came out flat, and didnt hit it in practice hard enough to beat their zone.

Tad has talked about this for the last couple years about how Oregon State is a team that requires prep time for. Other teams that are better require less prep time, but more motivation time.

Even without Roberson, I am not worried about Oregon state, but without Roberson its going to be hard to make too much of a run due to the limited bench.

This may be offtopic but I love how Oregon State rolls their fullcourt pressure into a 3-2 zone on the other end of the court. It is very well executed. Simple enough to make it work all the way down the court and prevents us from simply breaking the pressure with a horizontal pass.
Unfortunately, the actual zone leaves a lot to be desired.

I don't know, maybe because we throttled a top-25 team by 20 without Roberson? Roberson is good. We could use him on Wednesday and need him after Wednesday. But it isn't unpossible to win without him.

Great news! Even Dre at 30-40% is better than no Dre. I expect him to really come out fired up! He will make defense so much better, and OSU won't get nearly as many offensive rebounds.

I hope our team comes out better prepared agianst the zone.

Even if Dre can go on Wed, I would not start him and use him in spots and only if we are struggling vs the Beavers. We will need him big time in the second round vs AZ and I would like to see him fresh for that one.

Thats my thinking too. I think tad will be practicing how to beat the zone defense all week. OSU will not get us as unprepared as last time. I would imagine if it was mono, dre would not travel right?

You think? It seems players might be tempted to change how they play with him if they know he's not 100%.

Not sure so much about a lack of confidence, as much as anxiousness. I'll feel a lot better if we can win this game, even if I think we don't need it. Now here's the thing if it gets announced (or looks like) 'Dre can't play in the Tourney, then I can see the committee using that against us. They'd see we lost 2 of 3 times when he wasn't in the lineup to a bad team and beat the good team on their off-night. I don't think this scenario would actually happen, but I could see it.

Jesus, do people understand how percentages work? If Dre was 30-40%, he would be about as good out there as a fourth grader.

even if we shoot better, with or without dre we have to do a better job keeping them off the glass and getting 2nd chance points. don't like this matchup even with dre back. hope boyle can figure something out to push the right buttons and get the most out of the team weds.

Of course he would travel to the tournament regardless, he is a team leader. Unfortunately, that he is traveling and Boyle is "hopeful" isn't any news at all.

I'm pretty pessimistic. BC seems pretty emphatic it is mono, they've repeated it in every recent article. If it is, I can't image he'll play. And no way Boyle would announce ahead of time that he isn't playing, imho.

Right there is no way Boyle will saying anything until gameday I would imagine. If it is mono dre could be done for the season. The risk of rupturing his spleen is way to high. If the BC is getting false info from who ever they get info from, then Dre could be back in time.

I can't really be as confident as you in that regard. It's not like the shooting performance vs OSU ws a complete anomaly. Just a few games prior we shot less than 30% from the field and looked awful at Cal.

We are such a weird team because I agree that we can beat anyone in the Pac 12 on any given day but we can also come out and lose to just about anyone. We have several players that can look great one game and like total crap the next.

As far as home shooting it is absolutely an anomaly of a shooting day. Our road and home scoring splits is pretty large. We're not a good road team but were a damn good home team and a pretty damn good neutral court team. I think we're all overrating OSU and Robinson just a little bit here guys....

I suppose it will all depend on a) is it mono or not, and b) if it is mono, when did it start? The general consensus is NOT resuming contact sports for 4 weeks. Why would Tad suggest he could possibly play, flying in the face of all established medical literature? If it is a different viral illness, then who knows.

Xavier johnson needs another game like the oregon game.

I think you're right on the money here. If we can get XJ into beast mode like he was in both cal games and the oregon game, we should be Ok. Ski is a tournament player, and he seems to play a bit better when the screws are down. I'm not expecting a 7/10 game from him, but I think he shoots around 43% (+/- 2%).
It'd be nice to have 10-12 pts between sht, adams & little x as well.

It's a winnable game, and I think after getting beat by them 3 days ago, they arent gonna screw around.
