Technically, quarterback Allan Bridgford’s decision to leave Cal doesn’t represent the end of an era, but it’s pretty darn close — close enough for our purposes here Bridgford was No. 6 in a series of eight highly-rated quarterbacks (4 stars or better) signed by former coach Jeff Tedford beginning in the winter of 2004. Wow! This quote from Bridgford really stood out.

I appreciate the opportunity provided by the football staff as well as the University overall, but I cannot hide my regret that I missed my opportunity to attend the world-renown Stanford University.

If he cares about his well being he should go to Lincoln...he might not be happy there though.

He could not beat out Zach Maynard, had a shoulder injury in 2010, and was basically told he had no shot to win the starting job at Cal.

I'll bet he looks great in practice

Not interested at all.

But what I do find interesting is how he went from one of the greatest CFB QBs (Aaron Rodgers) of all time, to 8 straight hot messes. And yet he retains the title of QB guru. When UCLA hired Slick the press characterized him the same way. The two of these guys recruited more highly rated QB bombs than about anyone.

It's hard to get the QB eval right. A great deal of OUR near term success rides on whether or not Rip got it right. Pray he did.

It's either that or he'll go to Wisconsin, become an All-American, and win the Rose Bowl. Those are really the only 2 possibilities.

ESPN Rumors has CU as a potential transfer destination for Bridgford.
