After we beat Miami, does anyone know how I can get tickets through CU in Washington DC? I can get them through other methods but would much prefer to be in a CU section! Yeah I know.... It's a bit optimistic...... But does anyone here know how they dole out tickets?

I would assume CU will get an allocation, but IIRC for the ABQ games last season they were ST holders and donors only.

Yea I'm pretty sure what Jens said is correct because I am going to try to swing it too for the Thursday game if we were to get to DC. On the plus side not as many CU fans will be in DC as there was in ABQ so it may be a little easier to come by tickets in the CU section. However, the 4 participating schools get an oddly small allotment of tickets for the regionals if I'm not mistaken.

I had to buy my abq tickets for the baylor game (already had tix for the unlv game) from University of new mexico - still got seated with the buffs fans, though.

I actually am one of those.... Buff Club member and a season Tixs holder for football only.... Does that matter?

I am one that just donates and never asks for anything. I have no relationship with the powers to be at CU.... I just donate.... But I want Tixs if I can get them..... Who do I call? I know my priority number is in the 3k's so I have points...... Someone on this board can give me insight....

I'm holding my breath here, was hoping we would be playing in Philly but if we made it to DC that would even be better.

I know DC has done pretty well in the past at selling their tickets, but they've gotten some good draws like Duke/George Mason. Looking at teams in our draw -- I think if Syracuse made it they'd be selling lots of tickets (lots of alums in this area), Indiana goes without saying (that was a very trendy pick from my high school, I think they had the most after Maryland). NC State/Temple/Davidson are all relatively nearby. Basically, if Syracuse is in it, I think it will be difficult to get tix; if not, I think it should be significantly easier.

Why is that optimistic? You mean to say you haven't already booked airfare for the final four?

Generally speaking, it should be easy to move up especially the second game since many people only go to "their game." My dad and I were planning on going to the Duke-WVU at Verizon some years ago until we found out once we got there tickets were prohibitedly expensive. After the game ended, the WVU fans all gathered at Greene Turtle and other establishments, the second game was probably pretty empty (I want to say Xavier was in it). Not to sterotype, but those WVU fans could really drink especially some of the older ones.

The Championship game might be the easiest prime sporting event to get tickets to if you don't mind spending a little cash. Since the tickets for all teams have to be bought I believe for all the games (or atleast that's what it was a decade ago), the Final Four losers generally just sell their tickets to the Final game. My cousin and uncle bought through that method when the Terps were in it in Atlanta.

I just tried to call CU Tickets to ask about ordering tickets for Austin...was placed on hold for over 25 minutes without ever speaking to an actual human, so I decided to write them an email, and this is the response I got (email sent and response received while I was on hold):

"Currently we do not know how large our allotment will be and we are only offering them to select donors. After their order window has passed we will then make them available to season ticket holders."

Based on information posted by Florida last night ( http://www.gatorzone.com/story.php?id=25255 ), it appears each school is entitled to 550 tickets in Austin...and I wonder what exactly "select donors" means...the lack of communication here between our AD and the fans is highly annoying...I checked and most of the other schools playing in Austin have at least some release or information regarding tickets available...our AD? Silence...

550 seems awfully low since there's only four schools per session, so only 2200 for each session out of like 15k are allotted to the schools. Do that many locals/others want to go to this where they have no rooting interest?

I've never understood why the allotment is so low for each of the participating schools at the tournament sites. Yes I realize that the season ticket holders for the resident NBA or college team of that given arena get a fair share but that should still leave a good amount for each of the participating schools.

I think that Miami has a bunch of fans who are expecting to go to the 16 and are already making plans and getting their tickets for that round. Should we beat them I would be on the webs immediately after trying to get in while they are panic selling. You might even be able to get somebodies prepaid hotel room along with the tickets for fairly cheap.

Mtn, Miami has about 20 fans. Seriously. They had a row and a half at the ACC Tournament. They can't fill a 7k arena. Miami's fan support is borderline non-existent. They won't be buying up chunks of anything.

I was about to ask if Miami fans are a lot better for basketball than they are for football. Because in football, despite the elite success over the past 25 years, they don't travel to bowl games.

They're worse since there's no tradition. Non-existent for basketball. Their showing will be nothing more than a tiny segment connected to the program, a minute group (literally, a few) alums, a tiny segment of tshirt fans who just got into the whole "U" thing.

But the fans they have are good for yachts, hookers, and blow.

When they played the Terps earlier this year, they're were maybe 4k there? The "fans" didn't realize they had a team until they beat Duke.

Don't forget this was a program that was dormant less than 30 years ago.
