Why hasn't Boyle been given a big contract?

His contract is plenty big. We don't need to get ahead of ourselves

Seriously? I don't think so, I remember when we signed him last time people were worried if a big school offered he might leave. He hasn't gotten a new contract since then.

We are on the verge of becoming a top 20 team, we can't afford to lose him.

"Are you going to write the $4 million check?"

Yours most sincerely,

Phil DiStefano

I believe his contract was extended and incentives were increased in November 2012. However, he is not earning the big money yet. I suspect he will soon.

Bohn has kept giving Boyle more money despite him not wanting more money. Also, Bohn has re-done his contract the past two years IIRC

Incentives are guaranteed money to Boyle.

We've debated this before... beat Illinois then beat Miami, Bohn will have too. The truth is IMO I don't think there's another job out there he wants and Bohn knows it. He could play hardball if he wanted too, he hasn't. The only thing maybe he'd leave for is the KU job if Self left.

Boyle has gotten two contract extensions in the last year. Both will earn him more money. As far as anyone knows, he didn't ask for either one.

So can we stop with this "If X, then Bohn will have to do something" ****? Bohn has been doing something. Any suggestion that Bohn is somehow dragging his feet on Boyle's contract is disingenuous Bohn hate for the sake of Bohn hating.

Many including Joel Klatt think he's underpaid for all he's done these past three years. Until he gets paid like an elite coach, people aren't going to stop on this.

Nobody cares what Joel Klatt thinks anymore after his shameful display when Embree was fired.

Joel Klatt will find any reason he can to bitch about Bohn. He is no friend of the university.

That's my point re: Joel Klatt is he has a bully pulpit and as long as people pay attention to him, he's relevant. Not taking Klatt's side (or disagreeing with him for that matter).

Then why do you tune in? If enough people stop listening he will lose his job.

This.

The man left a high six figure salary as an investment manager to take a $25,000 a year job as an assistant coach at a small college in order to do what he loves ... he is not driven by the pursuit of money. I truly believe he wants to build something here that will last, and when he achieves that maybe he'd consider leaving for another challenge. And if that is the case, it won't be money that gets him to stay.

I think Tad is perfectly happy with his compensation. I'd even venture to guess that he has said to Bohn to hold off on big salary increases if it means that the C-Unit can travel to Pac 12 and NCAA tourney destinations.

You lost me at "Joel Klatt" and "think".

The fact is, you're complaining about Mike Bohn not doing something that he's done twice in the last year. The fact is that this is just Klatt pushing his agenda. (Klatt has been on a crusade to get Bohn's head ever since Bohn had the nerve to fire a failed football coach that Klatt thought somehow had immunity in spite of a disastrous tenure). Frankly, I doubt that Klatt gives a crap about Boyle's contract, or could even tell you if he's ever had a raise or an extension. It doesn't matter. All that matters to Klatt is attacking anybody at CU that doesn't bend over for what he and his buddies want to see done.

If money was that important, he would have left for the Texas A&M, K-State, or the Nebraska job, all of whom allegedly contacted him in the last two years and all of them rumored to have all offered 2Mil+/year. He also just got another extension in the fall, and we can only extend him one year at a time.

I am not going to be worried unless Kansas comes calling.

If Boyle had gotten the increase to his base salary that Klatt was calling for last year, that would have made the CU basketball coach higher-paid than the CU football coach. Klatt (and his compatriots) would have then led the charge of how out of whack Bohn's priorities are while also suggesting that there's likely a racist element to the situation.

This would be funny if weren't COMPLETELY TRUE.
