Football: Roster decisions loom for CU Buffs

"Nick is looking good," Terrel Smith said, admitting he doesn't know what coaches are thinking. "From what I've been hearing, Nick is really excelling out there."

Good news.

The players seem to like Hirschman. They did last year, too.

I don't know. I do feel like he puts the most pressure on a defense by throwing the best deep ball. If he's got the team behind him as a leader, then that's says a lot also. There was chatter last year that Hirschman would have won the job if the previous staff had trusted him to stay healthy. But he also hasn't exactly lit it up when he has played.

Whatever the coaches decide, I suppose I will simply support it, cheer my team, and hope for the best.

Anyone expecting a surprise in the QB final 4 competition? Dorman or Schrock with the upset?

Not sure either of them can really contribute anywhere else, but I think Wood is athletic enough to maybe get on the field at another position, might see him prefer to do that if he's looking like a clear 4th.

Nick Hirschman serving cold humble pie to his haters on this site, good to see. Dorman also looks good.

I think the smart money would be on Webb (seems like a guarantee based on the article), Hirschman, and Dillon. Maybe one of the others can sneak in now that it might be expanded to four.

Except that isn't happening....

'Nik's observation of the players being behind Nick isn't entirely true from my perspective. It was true last spring because he was the only QB on the roster that had originally been recruited to CU and who had been at CU for even a year. So that was certainly true last year, but it's not like the players didn't like the other QBs.

Based on what I've been hearing, the players want the same as the fans... The very best QB. And they'll trust the staff to figure that.
