Football: CU Buffs, Baer working on multi-year contract

It appears that this assistant salary pool has definitely been raised. Baer will be making more than EB.

Since he's actually had years of experience and success in the job he's doing, he should make more than EB did.

Since he's actually shown that he has a clue what he is doing, he should make more than EB did.

fify and we should be comparing him to Greg Browns salary more directly.

This is good news though that shows that the administration is at least more serious about making some improvements in the program and spending some money to do it. We still need to see the significant steps like facilities expendatures and other significant program investments but at least this is a start.

It will be interesting to see the breakdown of pay by each assistant. Some guys had to have gotten a big pay bump.

Agreed, his resume is more impressive than EB and the fact that he actually has coordinating experience justifies it alone.

Interesting, I caught this on the buffzone twitter feed. It's been widely reported that EB was the first assistant with a multi-year contract. Ringo wrote an article three years ago about how Eric Kiesau was on the verge of signing a three year deal, which had been approved by the regents. Obviously, Hawk and staff were fired during/after this season. But, the article says that the contract covered the 2009 season as well so I guess it was more of a informal multi year contract.

The good news that comes from this though is that Kiesau made a little over 200,000 per year, EB was making 500,000, and now Baer will be making more. I would imagine Lindgren is probably in the 300,000 range, which is still a substantial raise from what our coaches were making just three years ago.

Kiesau did have a 3 year contract approved and he signed it about 1.5 years into it. I'm doing this from memory, but I'm 99% certain.

We had to figure that in to the payoff it took to get rid of Hawk and Co.

The AD has a fixed number of multi-year contracts and they opened up one for a football assistant some time ago.

update: OK - I opened the article that Nola posted after I wrote this, so I'm 100% certain.
