CU Buffs football clearly going deep

"In their 1-11 season in 2012, the Buffaloes had only four completions longer than 37 yards"

:bang:

At least this means Webb has basically no chance. Once he starts throwing the coaches will hopefully realize/witness that he has the arm strength of a 10 year old child.

I hate to say this but this is somewhat reminiscent of Dan Hawkins. Like no one ever thought of throwing the ball deep. They threw the ball deep last year but they could not complete those passes (at least not to the right team). Low completion percentages were the biggest issue and was the killer, IMO. Keeping the chains moving is the challenge for this team.

Our opponents completed almost 68% of their passes against us while we completed 55%. The long bomb is great but I have heard this before....

I just want to see something good in the fall.

The sad thing is that we had that much lower of a completion percentage, and it sure seemed like we threw the long ball way less than any teams did against us. I don't have any stats, but I'd be shocked to learn otherwise. Let's see - about 1-2 to McCulloch per game, one to Kasa, and one to Fernandez means we probably threw the ball further than 20 yards downfield less than 25 times.

I don't disagree with your point of needing to move the chains. I bet our completion percentage for the long ball was way worse than the overall completion percentage. However, the overall completion percentage didn't suffer much because of long throws. We just did a horrible job getting the ball from the quarterback's hand into the hands of receivers (blame can be placed on many, not just the quarterbacks).
