I just got so much more confident in the state of the program and Tad's leadership. I was already over the moon, but talk about hitting all the right notes.

Tad gets it. And his comments align with some great hoops minds on this board.

  • More efficient half-court offense with improved assist/turnover ratio is number one priority
  • Using a deeper bench to bring full-court defensive pressure is coming in 2013-14. Release the Kraken!!!
  • Dre should return and we're better with him. But if he doesn't, we'll be fine and there's an immediate-play transfer we have targeted if Dre leaves.
  • A top priority for 2014 recruiting is an elite outside shooter
  • Huge focus on building the right schedule that manipulates RPI in our favor.

Do you think Collier or Perkins is the type of shooter that Tad is talking about? I know they are both very talented, but I'm not sure either of them would be considered a "knock-down shooter", right?

No way he was referencing either of them when he said "knock-down shooter". Both are more like Mayor or J-Hop than they are like Levi.

Just listened, can't recommend that 20 minutes strongly enough for anyone that wants to have an insight into the direction of the program for the next couple of seasons. I will add that I thought the time he took to discuss Jeremy Adams situation speaks volumes about the behind the scenes Coach Boyle. So good on so many levels!

My impression from the outside is that Tad happens to be a very good man who is also a good basketball coach, not the other way around. I think winning is very important to Tad but winning right is more important.

We are lucky to have him as our coach.

Found it on youtube. Adam's and Will's recap followed by presser:

I had listened to that on Rivals and I didn't hear anything about Andre getting bad advice, etc. It seemed like there had to have been a lot more...

I was able to watch it on cubuffs.com earlier today. Also on Tad being a good person. Both him and HCMM from what I can see are very very friendly. I am very skittish about approaching these guys in a public place like the c4c, so I dont but there are other students that arent athletes that talk to them. Whenever I walk by the guys sound like they genuinely care about the university and treat everyone equal like just a regular student. Very personable looking guys. At this years Midnight Madness Tad came up to the student section and actually sat next to me while Lappe was handing out pizzas and personally thanked me for coming and shook my hand wishing me luck the rest of the school year. Cool stuff.

We see Tad about in Niwot from time to time. My son has waited his table as well. A genuine nice guy.

Free Throws Tad. Unless your offense isn't going to rely on slashing and getting fouled, this needs to be addressed.

Tad makes appearances at sackygate. Dude is good by me.

I will go to my grave believing that us all biting the bullet to attend and tailgate at Invesco is what put that recruiting weekend over the top for hoops last year.

The PAC 12 champs chant definitely didn't hurt. I don't remember any recruits being there though.

There isn't a single thing he could've said that would've made that any better. This team should be so much fun to watch next year. We're going to see guys flying all over the court.

Also, when Tad mentioned the knockdown shooter in 2014, I couldn't help but think of Dorian Pickens. He would be an ideal fit at the 2.

Listened to Tad on CJ and Krackman today. What an impressive guy. Very honest, straight forward and sharp. He talked about Ski's shooting. Said Ski had a disappointing year. Talked about his shot selection and that he and Ski had discussed it all year. But he said he never wants a kid to not take a shot out of fear of being benched. He bases his starters on how they practice and Ski is great in practice. He said Ski is a great shooter and doesn't know why he struggled in games.

Talked about Ed Rush and actually defended him and Scott. He said Rush did good things for the league like requiring officials to watch game film of their games. Apparently, a lot of officials didn't like the requirements Rush put on them. But he absolutely felt like Rush had to go after his comments. On Scott, he said it is just a natural reaction to defend your people. Kind of like a parent defending his kid.

He said Wesley Gordon will be a beast. All PAC 12 talent.

On News 4 he discussed Robo going pro. Basically, he said "If he goes pro and gets drafted and earns a pay check, I am all for it. But if he goes to the draft and ends up not getting drafted and does not earn a pay check, then it was a very bad decision." I got the sense that Tad does not believe Robo should go pro.

Yeah, 'dre could earn a paycheck: $20K in Canton or Bakersfield, in the D League! Janitors at Arvada West make more!

"dre needs another year, without question, in the weight room with Foreman and 500 shots a day in the practice facility. In the Association, every team has all-world players and that" not boxing out" stuff won't work against a guy just as athletic and 25 lbs. heavier than you.

Boyle: "Andre is getting misinformation." Anyone have an idea what he is referring to?

I was a bit concerned with Dre's dad's comments to the affect of "his projections may have a silver lining" kind of thing. Almost seems like his dad is getting a little star struck, which concerns me. Tad is saying that this decision is high risk, high reward. The reward is a +$million paycheck. That is a very high reward. The risk, in Tad's mind, is much greater. That is, no more college eligibility and chance to improve your stock. Anyway, you guys get the drift.

General speculation is that agents are contacting the family and promising things to get Dre to sign.

Frankly, if "agents" do that, they should be debarred. Not sure who would "debar" them though. Just like the AAU crap that goes on. A lot of unscrupulous jerks trying to grab the coat tails of talented kids is what it is. I get a sense that Tad is very pissed about it. You'd hope that the players and their inner advisers would be smart about this stuff. Fools gold.

Oh, and if the family enters into any kind of agreement, or contract, they are screwed. Unless the "agent" contracts to guarantee money. But even if they guarantee $2 million, that pales into comparison of what a kid like 'Dre could make in his career. Plus, the agent could lose it's shirt and probably could not cover the loss. ****ed up, man.

I have a very bad vibe about Dre's future if he decides to jump. I know the arguments for it, I don't need them repeated. I'm simply speaking of a personal gut feeling (and years of watching these types of situations).
