The 6-foot-0, 200-pound Gray recorded 112 tackles and two interceptions during his junior campaign with the Bears. He also accounted for more than 1,030 yards of offense and 16 touchdowns.

Now, Gray is starring in track and field.

"I qualified for the state meet in the 100-meter dash, 200, high jump and long jump," said Gray. "My fastest time in the 100 was a 10.6 and 22.3 was my fastest in the 200. For my long jump, I got 21.2."

Gray actually has something in common with his recruiting coach from Colorado, both are from the Magnolia State, Coach Charles Clark played four years at Ole Miss, not too far from Gray’s former hometown of Clarksdale.

“It’s neat that Coach Clark is from my home state,” Gray said. “We are building a great relationship. He has been telling me how great the campus is at Colorado and that he can’t wait to get me on campus up there.”

Ever the optimist, I hope that being in the running for players like Gray, Ballage, Stone, and the like turns into some commitments, even if they're late or flips, because of the difference we will see on the field this season.

There are so many good reasons for the right recruits to want to be Buffs, but many of the best need more than a great school, beautiful campus, solid staff, and promise. If Mac can turn the tide with our existing talent, imagine what can be done with classes full of talented players, many who are finally seeing CU in a new light.

It would be awesome if we could get this kid. Furthermore, I really like everything I have seen and heard about Charles Clark. Really a good guy in person as well.
