I am thankful for a number of great things that Mike did for CU, but it was time for him to go.

I had the opportunity to meet and have extended conversations with him on several occasions, and he always struck me as a honest, hard working, outgoing, and dedicated employee of the University, as well as a great fan of CU. I have nothing but the utmost respect for him as a person, and, football coaches aside, I think he did a very good job as AD.

He came into the job in the midst of CU being dragged through the mud by a media-driven scandal that saw every high-ranking admin replaced, and within a year had the fan base and community excited about the future of CU. A lot of people forget how bad it was, and I think Mike did a excellent job of getting CU back on its feet.

His navigation of CU's exit from the Big 12 and into the PAC 12 was another outstanding job. With all the underhanded Texas politicking (**** Baylor!), the CU AD stayed quiet and on target. Then when it came to paying an exit fee to the Big 12, CU ended up paying much less than the Nubs. Another job well done.

His hiring of Boyle, Lappe, and Kritza all appear to be very good, if not great hires (although in hind sight, I do think he got lucky that Bzzz bailed on us so quickly).

But in the end, football is king, and the failures on the field lead to failures in attracting donors. His efforts have run their course, and I understand that his termination is probably better for the long term good of the program.

Thanks, Mike, for being a good steward and a great fan of my University. Good luck to you.

Agree. Thanks Mike. I think he got dealt and unfair hand by his superiors on numerous occasions.

Not only did he inherit a mess, but it was a political hot potato that took some skill to navigate. Plenty of folks with CU ties wanted the death penalty to football after the scandal.

Alas, I think it came down to fund-raising. Despite having brought deft skill to the job at hand in mid 2000's, it's a different era with another set of problems now.

Thanks Mike... he was always fighting an uphill battle despite what detractors may say. Hopefully the next AD gets a little more help (or lack of obstruction) from superiors.

Well, even though I can't say I was necessarily a fan, I do wish Mr. Bohn the best in the future and appreciate his efforts on behalf of CU.

seconded!

I don't think a lot of people remember just how big of a mess he stepped in to. The department is so much stronger today than it was when he got here. He is leaving the department in better shape than it was when he arrived. Not many CU ADs can say that.

Bohn was a pretty good AD for where we were. I thank him for a number of things. It's now a better situation.

I don't, however, believe that Bohn is the right AD for where we are. A change makes sense to me.

Good post. Bon voyage Mike! Hope you find something great.

Good luck to you Mike! A lot of us appreciate your time at CU and always will. Thank You.

I'm still shocked over this. I have no faith that Bruce and Phil will find somebody better.

Valid concern. My take had always been that as long as fundraising was progressing, I wanted to wait until Benson had retired & a new prez was in place before evaluating the AD position. I am assuming that fundraising hit a major snag that is being laid at Bohn's feet. Possibly a scapegoat since this was closely preceded by Phil & Bruce going public about major issues at the CU Foundation and an overhaul to CU fundraising infrastructure being necessary.

Agreed. Mike Bohn cleaned up the image of the athletic department big time when it was a mess. He also got the books in order for the most part (minus the expensive football coach revolving door) and did some decent marketing campaigns to increase CU visibility locally. It was exactly what was needed at the time.

Now we need a person who can put football back on the map and raise money for the athletic department. I hope they find the right person.

Very best of luck to Mike. I'm not in a position to know whether this is the right move or not, but I'm not confident Benson or DiStephano know either. I do know Mike did a lot of very good things at CU and I thank him for that.

As a member of both of CU's athletic bands, I will never be able to express enough gratitude to Mike for all he has done for us. My college experience would have been far less incredible then it was the past 5 years. He made sure to take care of us and include us as much as possible, I can say from experience that, that is not the case at many universities around the nation. Good luck Mike, I hope you land on your feet somewhere soon.

Many thanks to Mike Bohn. He did a good job under extremely difficult circumstances. I'm very sad to see him go, and I know he will land on his feet soon.

Regarding fundraising operations -- a lot of us have heard the CU Foundation is messed up and needs an overhaul...I just don't think it was the athletics side that was causing the problem. Guess we'll see.

Thanks Mike Bohn. Sorry to see him gone.
There are a couple of men that I can think of right off hand that I would have much rather seen "resign".
We are by no means getting rid of the biggest problem with athletics at the university.

I'll say this, the guy knows his basketball. Kansas taught him well.
Boyle was a great hire. He did a good job as AD considering all the *****#oles in the administration that he had to deal with. Good luck, you deserve it buddy.

No offense.... but no one really cares about the band if the football team is garbage. Again, no offense:smile2:

Perhaps your dumbest-ass post to date. In a thread where people are saying thanks for a job well done, anyone with any clue would not post if they didn't have something positive to say. Not you, the dumbest-ass on the planet. Nice.

Hear, hear.
For someone who tries to wax intellectual and above it all BB2 sure has a knack for this sort of thing.
Are you so obnoxious and contrary in everyday life or is this just your forum persona??

I wish him the best of luck in the future. The man got us into the Pac-12, that will always be his shining achievement and a very good one at that.

Good sequence here. Hire FB coach, then AD, then new President.
