He doesn't look small in his recruit video. And the entire video is him on defense... He does look like a good athlete with good speed for his height.

Tall player, decent frame, just needs to fill it out. The listed height and weight are about what Shane Dillon's at right now though.

FFY. Dillon can't be more than 180. Obviously Keeney will fill out. It's not easy to find someone at 6'5 who is 16 and can move really well. Gotta love that 4.68 40 time.

Shane did a phone interview with Buff Chips Radio prior to spring practice and I think he reported himself at 215 or somewhere around that. I'm very skeptical of that figure but whatever I heard or thought I heard was straight from Shane.

Anyway, back to Mr. Keeney so this doesn't spin off into another misfit weight gain thread. Once again as a two-way TE/LB type player we've got a tall, athletic prospect so a typical McIntyre target that could work out at a couple of positions if he does bulk up. Depth is going to be a concern in the next few years but he has a lot of promise if we can afford to redshirt him and hope he's polished and can crack the rotation as a 3rd or 4th year. I'm nervous about our recent streak of playing still developing true freshmen due to depleted numbers and getting shot confidence and the injury bug in return.

NorCal Buffs, what's Granite Bay's competition like?

I think Dillon forgot to mention that he was wearing 3 layers of clothes and holding a 25 pound weight! Haha, I'll believe it when he doesn't look like a twig on the field. I agree that HCMM seems to target good athletes, and I agree with his strategy. It's not like he's 190. At 210, he's not THAT far away from a decent playing weight for a receiving TE. 225-230 would be acceptable. Everyone is different, but usually 15-20 pounds for a guy with his frame isn't hard to put on over his Senior year and Freshman year.

Found this video on Dylan with some different highlights. I like the nasty blocking and you gotta like that he is the first guy down on kick coverage making tackles. He just looks like a good athlete to have on our team.

Not sure how good their league competition is, but they beat Long Beach Poly for the state championship last year. The team Keeney kept picking off passes against in his highlights was Poly. They played against Westlake and Oaks Christian before league play began too. So.. they play big boy football.

No further questions... Damn!

They're a solid program and they play big time competition in Nor Cal. They lost their first two games to Westlake and Oaks Christian in So Cal before going on a 12 game tear last year. I think Keeney had two major interceptions in the championship game against Poly. Also IIRC, his brother is a PWO at Cal. A QB I think.

MacIntyre knows that area well. The kid has talent. Good luck.

Nice signing. Why is he listed as a TE though? Are we sure that's where he's being recruited? The video had him playing LB (and looking damn good at it).

WELCOME TO THE BLACK & GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but when ESPN has a "testing results" page I believe the size/weight and measurables are all verified at SPARQ events. So, he's a legit 6'6 with a 4.29 shuttle time. Pretty good. Not so good, a 5.13 40 time.

The staff has evaluated him up close and personal though, so they know what they're getting speed wise.

Certainly looked faster than a 5.13 on his highlights. Maybe he tripped at the start or something?
