I was thinking about how things are shaping up for the Buffs under HCMM. There seems to be guarded optimism we will be more competitive and that HCMM was the man for the job.

If that it is the case, I think it is reasonable for us to expect at least one real upset this season. Of course we will probably be the underdog in virtually every game this season so any victory would be an upset. But I mean CU beating a good team.

I think every game (save Central Arkansas) CU will be underdogs. With that in mind, I think the most likely upset will be CSU or Fresno State.

I know it is bold, but I am going with USC. I think Lane Kiffen is going to have the hottest seat in the nation with an average season. I think the Buffs by the end of the season will have bought into the HCMM program and believe in themselves b/c for the most part they will be more competitive in most games. And I think we will still struggle on the road this year so I find it impossible to predict a major upset on the road.

Unfortunately, "more competitive" could simply mean losing by less than 30 points. I do not think the Buffs will upset any of the better teams on their schedule this year.

Sorry-the poll came out after you answered. I didn't include non-conference games. And I don't think CSU or Fresno (although after last year it could be) would be a major upset.

If the question is major upset, it'd have to be at home IMO. And since the Oregon game will be over at halftime, I will guess USC. Lane Kiffin in the most overrated coach in the FBS.

I do not see a win in that group. Arizona State but that is on the road. I think our best shot of conference wins are Utah - they had QB issues last year, Arizona - this will come down to our defense keeping the game close, Cal - have no idea how they are going to be with a new coach but they have been a bad road team recently.

"If that it is the case, I think it is reasonable for us to expect at least one real upset this season."

I disagree - I think it is reasonable to expect 4-6 wins out of the games not on this list, and to expect that in these games we keep the opposition from playing third and fourth stringers en mass. A win against any one of these five would indicate that we have made unbelievable progress, and will be a game we will be talking about around here for years to come. You sure that is sugar you are mixing with the Kool-Aid?

It's June so I am allowed a bit of Kool-Aid this time of year. It might be all gone after September 1st.

I hear you - after last year I just can't do that to myself.....I'll say Or. St. - for variety - but I will try to forget this poll and get back to my low expectations asap!

i would say "allbuffs" is the most likely to be upset during the 2013 football season.

U$C = late in season with them having a short roster, CU catchs them between Stanford and UCLA, so with a physically and mentally beat up Trojan squad, a great chance for an upset.

I love the optimism, but don't see us beating USC or any of the other teams in this list. I agree that Kiffin is overrated (I still can't believe he has the USC job after far from stellar results in the NFL and at Tennessee), but USC is absolutely loaded. Marqise Lee might have 5 TDs against us.

If I remember correctly, Oregon State had a lot of seniors this year so I'll say we have a very slight chance of beating them.

I don't see us winning any of those games. An upset might be keeping it competitive until the final 5 minutes in any one of them.

Damnit Junta-I thought you were passing around the spiked Kool-aid to all ABers. I see that even though we are only in June, realism has set in already. I was hoping we could hold off on that until at least our 1st game.

On that list, I would say USC. That team may be ready to quit and traveling to Boulder in November may push them over the edge.

Dillusions of adequacy.

No expectations coming from me until after the new coach squares off against CSU.

Out of that list, I think Arizona is going to be very vulnerable. They lost their starting QB, their top WR may be gone for the year, and their defense is very suspect.

Where is the Central Arky over CU option if you want to pick the likeliest scenario?
