A Winning Formula for College Football: Big Pay Raises for Assistant Coaches

Regardless of the source it is a good article and the comparison b/w head coach and assistant coach salaries across major conferences is interesting. It is certainly much more difficult to develop and maintain a powerhouse program that regularly competes for conference championships, etc. if you don't pay enough to keep good coaches and you have too much regular turnover.

Think about it for the kids having to learn new techniques and packages, and for the coaches too to learn what they want from each other and to work in unison. While I was among those disappointed HCMM did not go for more BCS coaches to round out his staff, he obviously felt more comfortable trying to keep his staff together as they had already found a way to succeed together.

At least the admin did buck up this time and agree to pay way more than they had been for the package of coaches. Even if one leaves for greener pastures, HCMM has a better chance of getting a quality assistant (maybe not from the SEC though:)
