WBB Preparing for Italy

CU originally had scheduled this trip last season, but called it off due to injuries. They started practice today and will be leaving for Italy in August to play 4 or 5 games.

Biggest question mark at this point is point guard. The article makes it sound as if Lappe would prefer sophomore Ky Weston or freshman Desiree Harris to be the starter as she likes B-Wil at the 2.

Glad that the trip is taking place this season as the point guard is going make a difference in how well the team performs this season. Hopefully the time Italy will allow the coaches to see who is realistically ready to lead the team.

BTW, I expect Lappe to get the Buffs back to the NCAA tourney.

It helped the men's team a ton, I expect it will do the same for the women. Especially in a year where they are replacing a superstar.

This was perfect timing for WBB. Younger team replacing its "go to" player. They need to come together and figure out their roles heading into a beefed up OOC schedule this year.

Really excited to see Weston run the point this year a bit more. I think she's going to be a good, solid player for us.

And I'm curious to see how Huggins looks. I was sky high on her heading into last year based off of things I had heard from people who went against her in HS and injuries never really let us see what she could do. I think she might provide some much needed outside scoring for us.

Coach Lappe said last season that Huggins was spending a huge amount of time practicing her outside shot (seated in a chair because of her injury) to develop her consistency on the shot. So hopefully that all translates to game situations. What little we did see of her last season showed real promise as an outside scorer. (By the way, I hear people making a distinction between a "shooter" and a "scorer". What does that mean?)

"shooter" defines a player who is consistently hitting shots from the outside, "scorer" describes a player who can score, but perhaps isn't a consistent outside shooter (perhaps Chucky fits this definition).

I thought I heard somewhere that the ncaa is trying to get rid of these trips.
I think I heard that too. But I don't find anything saying that change has happened so maybe its one of those "proposals" that is discussed for years before any decision is made.
