All in One DirecTV Hates Pac-12 Network Thread (Was Larry Scott Thread)

Pac12 is playing hardball. Urging everyone to use this month to switch providers

Also, all P12 universities no longer carry or use DTV.

I have said it before...DTV is not going to pick up P12, not in their business model. Period.

I also thought that was funny how direct he was about encouraging everyone to drop Pac 12. Certainly playing hardball.

Also saw in the intro that they seem to continue pushing a Colorado/Utah rivalry labeled as the "Rumble in the Rockies"

Well I guess I have hit a crossroads. Time to decide if I watch the NFL or switch to Cox cable(PAC-12 LA only). Dammit !!!!!! This blows.

this is the challenge. do i drop dtv and lose the broncos (in a year where they look like they might actually be really good)? i guess i'm going to have to do so.

If I'm going to be paying $17 a week to watch the NFL, I'll just head to a sports bar and get some wings while I'm at it. I think I'll be switching this year. (This decision is as much for CU Basketball as it is for Football)

this.

If you're a college hoops fan in general it's kinda hard to dump DTV. Their sports channel lineup is beyond amazing and gives me a huge leg up on my brackets. I've paid out in every single bracket I've entered since I had DTV. I just moved to Austin for a job and I will have to get TimeWarner(the worst ever) if I wanna have PAC12. Prob sticking with DTV given that option.

It's tough when your team is from another market and you want to watch the whole game. If you have access to your home team games and just want the Sunday Ticket for viewing options, I find that I spend a lot of my time watching Red Zone channel anyway since most of my non-Broncos viewing is for fantasy football purposes.

What sucks is that most bars have direct TV. That means pac 12 games are not available in most bars. LAME-O.

Welp, guess I won't be making the long anticipated switch to DTV this year. At least the Donks are on national TV a lot.

You should call them and let them know you are excited to make the switch but you noticed they don't carry the P12 network. Have made that call a couple times since I am not a subscriber. Let them know they are missing out on new business too.

They show every Bronco game in this area every week so I'm fine there. Never thought I'd say this but Im considering making the switch. With my luck I'll leave Dtv and then they will pick up the Pac12 network lol.

We are making the switch to Dish. We've already decided, but have been dragging our feet on making the actual phone call (plus I have some stuff to watch on the DVR). I guess we can work on it this weekend.

This. I'm ok not having the P12 for football because, well, yeah... but basketball? ****. My contract is up in January, so I'll decide then, but I have a strong hatred for Comcast and am going to have to explore my options. Last year I had a friend who had Dish let me use her login info, so I'm going to have to see if I can find someone else that has Dish now.

My thoughts exactly. Even if it is at 7am in Honolulu...

Am I the only one that is not thrilled (as a spectator) that this is the angle the Pac 12 is taking? As a CU booster I certainly want the revenue from the network to be high, but come on Larry - don't ask us to switch providers, launch a digital alternative so we can stream everything. Give me a yearly subscription price for a streaming Pac12 network and I will sign up immediately. Ask me to pick up Comcast, and I will continue to listen to AM announcers.....

they don't generally have the rights to go direct digitally with the top tier content (ie football). they generally grant those rights to cable/sat-- that's one of the reasons the $$$ paid to the p12 are so large. if you are comcast, you don't want the p12 taking their best content direct to consumer and competing with you heads up for viewers.

sure! $5.99 a month for everything. And let's keep that all that tv contract money coming in, too. why not? can't believe ol larry hasn't thought of that.
