No huddle offense

I have heard through various quotes in the media our practices are being run with a no-huddle offense. We have had similar discussion here earlier but does this mean we will likely go no-huddle during the season or is the coaching staff just trying to up the pace to get more reps in practice? I wouldn't think you would practice a tempo different from your desired game-time tempo.

Third option: they are practicing the 2 minute drill.

I expect we will see some no huddle, maybe after a quick turnover and the opposing defense is still winded from the previous series, or may be just to **** with them. But at this point in the season, I don't expect Mac to pull it out much. Offense is still pretty new and guys are getting used to it.

Sorry but I have to call BS on that one. I don't buy that they have designed our entire Fall Camp in an up tempo style just to get them into shape and prepare them for the 2 minute drill.

It doesn't make sense to instill routine around up tempo, no huddle during fall camp and then switch to a traditional pace during the season. They are all about getting the players to play fast and not think and if they switch to a slow tempo after embedding the up-tempo during camp they are going to have the whole offense thinking too much.

agreed.

I think the plan is to play fast and wind our opponents. A series or two of high altitude high throttle offense followed by a series of power football out of the pistol and I think you have a very successful blueprint for football at this altitude. The fact of the matter is that whether or not we run a high tempo offense, the defense will be facing it week in and week out. They need to be acclimated, prepared, and know how to react when things come at them. If the offense ends up slowing down at game time, that gives them all the more advantage. Makes things simpler and easier to execute.

I think you will see a variety of tempos throughout the season. But the no huddle will be in a lot of game plans.

Quote from MikeMac's post practice interview yesterday:

Knowledge = Confidence = Playing Fast

Seems to be pretty much the exact opposite of the last staff. Basically stated they will do things over and over and over again before installing new stuff. I know this isn't news to anyone, but it sure does make you feel like we are on the right track. Just having our guys in the right position will be a huge improvement over last year.

Against my better judgment, I am starting the sip the Kool-Aid. Maybe 3 can happen. Go Buffs!

Pretty sad when drinking Kool-Aid means predicting a 3-9 record. Personally, and of course I am regularly drunk on Kool-Aid, I think 3-9 is the expectation for the season and if we want to drink the Kool-Aid we find a way to get to 5-7 this year.

What 3 teams are you expecting the Buffs to beat this year?

We have tons of other threads already where we debate this. Personally, I'd say CSU (but may be close); Central Arkansas and at least one Pac 12 game-Utah is of course a good candidate. Hell we managed somehow to win 1 Pac 12 game last year-on the road-coming from behind with WB & Co at the helm.

If you get to the point where running your offense quickly comes naturally without mistakes, then you can run it at any tempo without mistakes. Practicing fast makes you think fast and react fast.

1+ Spoken like a true engineer.

If you can go "no huddle" you can always go back to huddling when needed. Not so much the other way.... Simple concept, a year later.

And do what Peyton does. Line everyone up so the D can't change and then let the play clock tick down for 15 seconds.

Man, you need some stronger ****...my KoolAid says we go bowling

Sure does seem that after tini and i drank from the koolaid pitcher someone spiked it and later consumed by ABers and several rivals subscribers

Lets hope it lasts til at least sept. 2

if the tempo is similar to the tempo at practice for the live periods, then its a fast no huddle. signals being sent in and lining up immediately and snapping it.
the other day the two fields were racing to see who could finish first it looked like because the entire field on one side sat down when they finished and started cheering.
