Can someone explain the Stanford hype to me? I honestly don't know what they all return on defense. I know the O-line is big and talented and Hogan is Ok, so I figure the offense will be efficient as always.

I just watched that show and I was also surprised at how much love Stanford was getting. They're not a great offensive team and it seems like they didn't have that much confidence in Oregon with the new coach. I like Oregon over Stanford in the North.

I'm with the experts on this one. While I don't think Oregon will be bad as they transition, I still think they take a step back this season before coming on strong next year (assuming MM returns). Stanford has an awesome defense and doesn't have any glaring weaknesses.

Stanford is loaded. Hogan is better than okay. Ted Miller pointed it out in his mailbag this week, but what Hogan did last year was pretty amazing:

-His QBR (the ESPN QB rating) would have ranked third in the PAC-12 behind Marcus Mariota and Matt Scott.
-He completed 65% of his passes on third down.

The OL is very deep and talented. The RBs are big and experienced. TE is not as good as in the past, but Kaumatule is still immensely talented. On defense, really good, experienced front seven and a really good safety in Ed Reynolds.

The major question marks are at WR and CB.

I think SC's time for being a contender has come and gone for while. Kiffen is not gone to cut it even with all that talent. I think a school from the SEC will be adding to that trophy case again. Hate to say it but the rest of the nation is looking up at the south for now.
