Coach Sparkles The Next Hawkins ?

LOL

He just may be the next Hawkins. Sure acts like it.

But wait, does he have a QB son?

Hawkins is better than McElwain. Hawkins had the uncanny ability to be awful 90% of the time, then win a game in an upset. I don't see that with McElwain

I think the jury's still out on McElwain.

We always had the better talent, but had horrible coaching. MacIntyre is obviously a legit coach.

I sure hope MacIntyre is better than McElwain, but I also have high hopes about MacIntyre versus a lot of other coaches.

CSU plays in a **** conference, which is also helpful.

Losing to us should be a given, even if it will take a few years to wake lamb fans up to that fact.

This needs to be the start of a winning streak to wrap up this series in Denver.

Wish 'em well! The better they look over the season, the sweeter this win becomes.

Safe bet is on another 4-8ish season for them. They have 6 "winnables" by my count, but the chances of that team winning them all is a major stretch.

What I love about my new man crush Mike MacIntyre is he is a proven winner with less than stellar talent. JM coached at Bama. Puh-leez...I could coach that team to 6 wins and bowl berth.

Unlike most people here, I don't hate the Rams...except when they play us. I hope they go 11-1, but I don't know if JM is the real deal. The play calling was awful, esp on defense. Anyone who leaves PRich in single coverage is a fool. Do it once and he will make you pay. I guess they weren't convinced he was the real deal...now they know better.

Just listened to McElwain's presser from Rivals, and I think this guy is delusional.

What was he saying??? Outside of special teams, the Rams were pretty dominated by us.

"We've got a very good football team"

"I thought we'd win the game, okay? We're a good football team"

"The beauty of athletics, you know, the beauty of sport..is that there's a winner and a loser"

"It hurts guys. And I still think we shoulda won the game. And I think we should win next year, so go ahead and put it in their locker room now, okay? That's what I believe, okay? I do. I'm good with that. Cuz I know they've got my back and I've got their back. And that's somethin' that's real comforting"

Glad he has faith. BTW... the Titanic was deemed unsinkable....

You know how some of the young CSU fans come off as delusional? That didn't develop in a vacuum. Graham and McElwain have been shooting their mouths off to anyone who will listen about how they were going to roll CU. CSU fans and boosters are largely in shock tonight.

[FONT=Arial,Helvetica]One more season with JM
and that's it - great guy but not a great head coach.

Interesting remark in light of some of McElwain's recently-publicized comments.

what a tool ...

They are likely to be stuck with him for a while. They broke the bank on his contract. This is a school that gets a conference media payout of between $2.5-3.5 million a year and averages less than 20k per home game. His contract was their first step in "going bigtime" and they stretched themselves when they signed him.

It would be hard for them to eat his contract and to sign another coach at this point in time. We got stuck with Hawk, they are stuck with Sparkles, and they may be stuck with him for much longer after the expiration date than we were with Hawk.

Mainly it was his tone and his lack of acknowledgement of what his team did and didn't do. I'm no expecting the opposing, losing coach to grovel to CU. But his behavior on the sideline and demeanor in the presser were pathetic and I think that has to trickle down to his team. False bravado was something that Embree's teams did well, and I think that is something that is developing with McElwain. False bravado to convince himself that his staff isn't awful at gameday coaching, and awful at recruiting.
