Central Arkansas

I really like this game for us. Going to be a well coached team. Athletic QB. Very experienced D. A winnable game but they will not roll over. I think CA > CSU.

Highlights from our game if anyone cares to watch

Hard to learn anything from that game...Incarnate Word went 2-9 in DII last year lol. You guys looked really good yesterday so we'll have to play our best. I think it will be a good game though...looking forward to it. We'll definitely know where we are after the game is over

Props to UCABear to drop by and post the highlight video.

that gray and purple rug is hard on the eyes.
How far back are the bleachers? There ARE bleachers, right?

Yes Incarnate Ward is transitioning from D2 to D1. I don't think UCA has any idea how good they could be this season at this point. There isn't much of a difference from the good D2 & FCS teams (UCA moved up from D2 not that long ago) but when it comes to a subpar D2 team, it isn't pretty.

If the Buffs do what their coaches tell them to do, CU should win this one. My only concern is where this team's head is at this week after a very emotional win.

I expect CA will be better than CSU. Would not be surprised to see us lose, especially if we come in to the game with the wrong attitude.

UCA is better than CSU, but not by much. Heading into week one here is how the teams ranked from Sagarin's rankings:

CU: 103
CSU: 130
UCA: 119

The team is playing with a lot of confidence. They all believe in themselves in their teammates and you could see a lot of improvement in just the first game.

CU - 45
UCA - 31

No "FBS winning percentage versus FCS opponents" stat in Tini's post? Too bad.

With FCS teams beating two top 25 teams in just the first week this year seems strange already and it didn't seem to applicable at this point, even if the win % has been going up recently.

Game plan for this team coming up about 5k feet is to go uptempo and have them gassed by halftime. Team can't sub and they aren't as deep as FBS teams, so shouldn't be to hard to have their starters sucking O2 by the end of the first Qtr.

I remember my old undergrad college used to play Central Arkansas back in the NAIA playoffs, way back in the 1980's. They were always a good team back then.

We are going to need to score some points for sure. I hope our running game looks stronger. I also hope we show significant improvement from week 1 to week 2. That is very typical for a competently coached team. We haven't seen that for a while. Still gonna be a tough game, but I can't imagine we would be taking any opponents lightly this year.

100% agree

Im shocked by that. I'm willing to bet they are better than CSU

They are probably a little thinner at some positions than CSU but likely have some better individual players and more speed.

That said this is a road game for them that is a payday. They want to win but it isn't critical to their season.

CSU came in thinking they could and would win after last year. For them the CU game is the game that makes or breaks the season. They could go on from here and win 6-7 games and go to a bowl and most of their "fans" wouldn't care because they lost the CU game.

For Central Arkansas a loss means nothing to their season plans or goals. It doesn't hurt their chances to get into the FCS playoffs or their seeding.

If we come in prepared and play like we did on Sunday we should win relatively comfortably. On the other hand if we go in thinking this game is in the bag we could easily lose. With the combination of what we have seen from M2 so far and the reality that we don't have a lot of should be wins on the schedule I think we are going to be fine.
