FIRE Ninas Now!!! x2

Fine. I'll defend him. 1: We're not very deep. We're a few injuries away from being really bad, and your Special Teams are generally your backup players. 2: We haven't seen errors in the Kicking game, or the our punt/kickoff our returns. It's just the coverage where we've been bad. 3: After we gave up the long return, we started kicking short. That's recognizing a weakness and adapting. I'm okay with this.

We're also winning.

Come at me.

I'm also drunk.

I'll come at you. two straight games the ko teams arent getting to their landmarks, maintaining their depth levels or squeezing to the ball while keeping their outside arm free.

im sleepy.

Yeah. So we stopped kicking it to them. I'm not disputing our return coverage is weak, but I think that's a talent thing, not a coaching thing, honestly.

Dude, this is CSU and CA. Fresno St and the PAC are going to kill us on STs.

Yeah. I know. But their players on special teams are going to be just flat out better than our players. I don't think any amount of coaching is going to fix that.

BS, there's enough speed to cover kicks and punts, even w/o starters. It's all coaching.

i disagree. players in the right spot with less talent/experience play better than players in the wrong spot with more. he needs to coach them up. if they cant do it, pull in other guys, starters if need be. it is too imprtant to be left unaddressed

Exactly, when FCS teams play teams like Alabama or Ohio State, you don't see Alabama/Ohio State returning every single kick for a touchdown... coaching can cover for lack of talent, even for special teams guys

I do believe that Central Ark was suppose to have strong kick return game. As others have pointed out this team does not have great depth, we have had a lot of attrition.

And CAU started at the 40 twice as a result. The defense can't be put in that position week after week.

I really don't think he should be fired, just watching these special teams is so frustrating. Last week and this week are I think the only times I've actually posted something from the game.

If it happens again next week I will post again.

I'm calling bull**** on the depth issue. CSU and CAU do not have more depth than CU. Yet they manage to make plays in the return game against us while avoiding us making any plays in the return game. It's coaching and it's a problem.

Aren't "they" also generally going to be using their backup players on special teams? Are you saying CSU and UCA have better backups than we do? Great googly ****ing moogly - what is Oregon going to do to our ST if that's the case? Here's a hint: their backup players are better than most starters, in most cases including ours.

And here's another hint - short kicking and letting Oregon, USC, Washington or even Fresno consistently start at the 40 yard line is a really, really bad idea.

So many things to say about this game. One thing I will say. Coach Mac is smart enough to realize who the weak link is (regarding coaching). I am sure that coach knows who he is and is on notice.

No excuse for cu kickers, especially at altitude to kick the ball out of the end zone. You can't give the other team the ball at their own 40 every time.

Neinas could easily have cost us 2 games so far. He doesn't bring anything to recruiting either. He'll be gone after the season

Why did we hire him in the first place? No one else would take the job? Given the general competence level of this staff, it seems odd they would put up with this garbage.

I didn't get to watch the CA game, but against CSU we had many of our top players on kickoff team, which really surprised me since they did such a ****ty job. Sometimes it's best to have those backups in there so there is more focus on STs. I'm not sure who was in vs CA, but it sounds like we still have a lot of work to do.

Exactly what I was thinking. Hopefully the Diego kid has a powerful leg. And what was up with that muffed catch in the north endzone, why didn't he just let it bounce out instead of some awkward near diving catch.

You can't fire a guy after two games. Especially games that we won.

You achieve what you emphasize. We'll see if proper emphasis is placed on special teams going forward.

You can sure as hell fire him if it doesn't pick up soon. Special teams has almost cost us two games.

He won't be fired anytime this season. But he might make it an easy decision for MacIntyre not to bring him back next season.

119 in kickoff coverage
116 in punt coverage
104 in kickoff returns
49 in punt returns

Right now special teams is costing us somewhere between 14 and 17 points a game. If you eliminate those 14 plus points.......do you see a possibility for six wins and a bowl game? Can you see a possibility if we keep giving those up?

Yeah. Me neither.
