Man, it seems like interference gets called on every damned pass play. It's getting to the point of absurdity. Add to those the targeting, roughing the QB when he's barely touched and the offenses have a huge advantage these days. Is it ruining or hurting the game?

I've felt for a long time that PI is called way too much especially on something that is often ticky-tack. Not sure which game you're watching but there was a call a few minutes against Buffalo and I thought it was a good call (and I hate the Jets). As for roughing the passer, I hated it when they first came out with this penalty back in the late 70's/early 80's or whenever it was and of course now it's gone to ridiculous levels.

Overall it's very disappointing what the game has become. So many of these "targeting" calls are simply incidental contact. All the receiver has to do is lower his head and he's likely to draw a targeting call on the DB even though it's incidental contact in most cases.

For anyone watching the Buffalo game, I'm guessing that PI call right there against Buffalo is the type of call that DBT is talking about.

I always thought DBT was pretty level-headed on officiating. Guess not.
i think I am. I also call BS often when those calls are in my team's favor. I know the game is fast and those bang, bang calls are tough.

That's "even-handed", not "level-headed". You're a ****ing maniac on the officials.

If you play "head's up football" and and put your shoulder into a guys chest, your facemask is going to contact the other guys helmet in some way. So every good form tackle is now illegal and targeting. If you go a little lower in the midsection, it causes the player's feet to come off the ground instead of just knocking him over hard. This is unnecessary roughness. I don't see how you can physically tackle someone legally besides just doing an arm tackle or cutting out the knees.
