Zone read

Any hope the coaches actually run it at full capacity on offense or are able to slow it down on defense anytime soon?

We could go zone-read if Sefo was actually a threat. His athleticism was greatly, greatly overrated by the interwebz

Then don't run zone read plays. It's just a handoff and the other team knows it.

Make up your damn minds. All I see is "chuck it deep" 5-7 times a game and not much else.

We will never stop it until the coaches teach the DL to contain instead of always crashing inside. Uzo-Diribe got burned by doing that the whole game. It let a QB that honestly couldn't hit the broadside of a barn beat us almost exclusively with his feet and look like an all-American in the process. Lock up that zone read on the outside and make him beat us with his arm.

Of course the DBs have no clue how to read a receiver and turn around or put their hands up when the receiver does so that wouldnt be too hard for them to beat us with either. Kind of pathetic when the head coach used to be an NFL secondary coach.

It's as if the coaches told Sefo, "Don't actually run it. You may get hurt."

Sefo made some things happen with his feet last night. I think he'll continue to improve.

He moves around the pocket well but looks awkward when actually running. Very indecisive and can't make anyone miss in space.

Was complaining about this on the ride home last night. Let Sefo run the ball out of it already. Can't be much worse than trying to get a yard or two out of the power I, which they tried too much of last night.

It would be interesting to know if Sefo (or Wood for that matter) are being told just to always hand off. Does anybody know if they really run the read part in practice? It is painful to watch.

Not really a zone read when the ball is handed off every time. It looks just like how the run game is done in a pistol set.

What pissed me off the most is that play-action passing was extremely underused, especially near the goal line. At least pretend like you might run the ball, especially when 3 or so consecutive plays were runs up the middle prior to two failed pass attempts.
