In Wednesday editions, the Contra Costa Times editorial board recommended that Cal athletic director Sandy Barbour “start*looking for another job” if the football program’s atrocious graduation rates and academic scores don’t show marked improvement. I’ll piggyback off that editorial with some thoughts on Barbour’s job performance … In the past year, I’ve reported extensively on [...]

We better beat those ****ers in Boulder this year...

...did I read "number one public university in the country" in that article?

The Cal budget problems could creep into the UCLA athletic Dept at some point, too. They're certainly not immune.

As a part of the state university system, you are no doubt correct...but I don't think ucla has made the same level of poor fiscal decisions that cal has recently. $400 MM in facility upgrades in Berkeley? Seriously...

ucla vs USC...cal vs stanford...

Yeah. Some of the best minds in the nation are at Cal. They just don't know how to count money any better than a burnout at a McDonald's register, though.

Nah, they're just typical Californians. Budget isn't in their vocabulary.

And they'll still never like Dan Guerrero as their AD. Guy has done a great job.

In all fairness he has SUCKED at hiring coaches until Mora, also he should be good at his job he's the highest paid AD in the PAC12.

Howland led them to 3 Final Fours, so even if it's UCLA I'd say that hire ultimately worked out. He lasted longer than any coach in the post-Wooden era.

We may see Cal slip into a CU-esque tailspin if they don't get things righted soon. The perfect storm of money issues, APR hit, disapproving faculty, a potentially clueless new football coach, and having a female making decisions related to athletics is there.
