Can we beat Cal or USC?

Last night's loss dropped us to 0-8 against CA teams since joining the PAC-12 in 2011. As bad as everything else has been, going winless against CA teams might be hurting us the most on the recruiting trail. Can we snap the streak this season or does it loom going into next season?

We absolutely can beat Cal. Doesn't mean we will, but it's totally achievable.

U$C? :rofl2:

So I forgot to include Fresno and Sac State from last season. Add in the Cal thumping from 2010 and we are 0 for the last 11 against CA teams. Yikes.

Cal is a possibility. No chance against USC unless they turn the ball over multiple times.

Cal, maybe, U$C, if there is some sort of biological attack that sidelines their first and second strings with a stomach virus, yes, other wise, no way.

Cal - absolutely.
USC - ummmm - only if we catch them napping - which is very possible being sandwiched between Stanford and UCLA. Not holding my breath, though.

Not seeing a W vs USC. They're playing pretty good right now. That defense will be scary to go against.

Offensive and defensive efforts like yesterday, combined with learning how to finish drives and no stupid special teams play would give us a chance against Cal.

The same as above combined with an abysmal effort by $C still probably only keeps us within 10.

We should beat Cal.

We can beat USC but it would take a flawless game by us in all 3 phases, which we haven't done all year. We will lose.

Yes we can (no affiliation with any previous political statements). Fight through it fellas! Time to take back Colorado from our west coast opponents.

Have a solid shot against Cal. Probably will still be underdogs in that one.

Don't see it against USC. Maybe if they rehire Kiffin as a special advisor to the team.

If game was played now, we'd probably be about 3 point favorites against Cal at home according to the figures that I keep. I could be off, and that changes week to week. As long as we win, I don't give a **** if we're a favorite or not.

For the record, we'd be about 14 point underdogs if we played USC at home right now (based on my calculations).

Cal we can and I think (but no guarantees) will beat. They have some indivduals who are very talented but also have some holes. The bigger issue is that they have some major issues in terms of team culture, the same kind of stuff that resulted in us losing to Sac State and CSU last year despite being more talented. Cal's players are going out each week looking for a way to lose, all we have to do is give it to them.

USC on the other hand, as much as I wish this were not true, has way to much talent for us to beat them even on their worst days. If Kiffen were still coaching we might have a chance but even that would be to small to be worth bothering with. Now that Kiffen is gone and Ogeron is in charge (temporarily) they are playing like a team again and not just showing up. Outside of a supernatural event we won't beat USC this year.

FWIW, Cal has only played three road games so far (only play five all season). They have averaged a whopping 11 points.

Don't underestimate the CU D to make that QB they have who has thrown a bunch of yards to go all Heisman on us. I still think we win. Hell, I won't bitch if the students rush the field. All 12 of them that will be in attendance and not on the slopes.

I pray for a HUGE snowstorm when USC comes to town. When was the last time USC played in a snow storm? They play ND either early in the year at ND's home or late in the season at USC. The OL and DL for the Trojans are really good. Damn good.

Not going to be favored in a game until the game in Denver next year. Cal will give the best opportunity to take the game. Have to play penalty free football and take advantage when they give us second chances.

Doesn't make them a good team. We put up a good fight against UCLA on the road but that doesn't make us a good team.

Given the number of players on CU's team from southern California, and given the history Paul Richardson has with UCLA, I suspect that the Buffs had extra motivation to kick it up a notch.

I sure hope Sefo and the rest of the team carry that spark into Washington and then back to Boulder against Cal.

The CU-Cal game looks to be a fairly balanced matchup between P12 bottom feeders with new coaches. CU can win this game. But it's not a gimme.

What do you use to calculate point spreads?
