Here we are, in year eight of God Awful football. There really isn't any relief in sight. The best we can hope for, IMO, is to be somewhat competitive by 2015.

I have to be honest and say my tolerance is starting to run out. I don't know if I can put up with another two or three years of terrible football. There are other things I could be doing. Supporting the Buffs football team is a time consuming and expensive labor of love. I am starting to feel like my energy might be better spent on other endeavors.

obviously, we are all gluttons for punishment or we wouldn't be here. What is your limit? At what point do you say "enough"? For me, I think I have come to the conclusion that I'm just waiting for an excuse to quit going. Getting hassled by the CU PD at the tailgate could very well be the last straw for me. I don't even know for sure that will happen, but I've run through the scenario in my head several times. Stuff like that doesn't happen at places that place value in their football program. I'm just waiting for the next example.

Thankfully we're hitting the JUCO ranks pretty hard, that should help the turnaround speed.

I don't think I'll ever stop watching, I just won't care. Haven't hit that point yet, although I didn't watch the 2nd half and decided to move stuff instead. Yup...

I picked a great time to have a kid. It is not like we are missing good football.

My passion has been a hollow shell for a while now, but I'll hang on til the bitter end. Too many years of cellar dwelling and too long of a climb back to invest any emotion for me. Good thing I am not one of the coaches.

I don't expect it to get much better, if at all, until we are rid of Phil and maybe even BB. I will not donate a penny until that happens, and I have told everybody who calls me that I will not. My money is an investment and right now Mesa State has a better return, and I don't even have an affiliation with them. I feel the same way about how my tax money is spent that I do with my CU donations.

i have been donating about 3k a year over and above the 1800 "donation" for seats..... they can call me all day and nite i will no longer donate any "extra" dollars until someone in Boulder shows me that they care to start trying to be competitive.... all i get from buddies around the country is laughter!...im sick of it!!

I care. I'm interested.

But my heart is not in it like it was. Not even close.

They can easily win me back, though.

I'm a Cubs fan. Enough said. Now two of the teams I love the most are perennial losers. Fun.

No tolerance left and it's been this way for a while, it's just not fun to watch the team I've loved my whole life get prison raped every time they take the field.

I guess the upside is that my Saturdays are a lot more open than they used to be.

I can't change where I went to school (nor would I want to). I'll always be a Buff fan.

Although I'm not going to spend a lot of time/resources on the Buffs. Watch, cheer, shake my head.

this is the first year that i will not be attending a game since i graduated. it was a tough decision, but having to travel across country only to spend most of my time there pissed off doesn't make sense right now. i am choosing to go back and visit my parents during other times of the year, but i am still watching the games on tv. last year we went to a UGA game since my wife is an alum there and enjoyed every minute of it. i am more likely to spend the money to do that again until we feel the buffs have a fighting chance in a game. i used to be concerned that would make me a fair-weather fan, but i still support the ad in other ways, i just choose to seek enjoyment out of my saturday afternoons.

Floating between apathy and optimism. I move down the range every week. More on the apathetic side at the moment. How many times can we get our balls punched into our throats and still come back asking for more?

I'm getting close to checking out, really. I know we won't win again this year, but still hold out hope for some signs of a corner being turned. Being at that game last night really dug the hole deeper for me. Normally, you'd think when you get the chance to see your alma mater when they come to your town, you'd be elated. Instead, I'm completely deflated ... even more than before. The talent difference is stark, just looking at the teams standing on the sidelines. We have so many guys who look like they were the best player on the Fruita or Alamosa HS team that went 4-6 last year or whatever. We were surrounded by Husky fans just laughing at every bumbling play; thankfully I had my 7-year-old son with me or I'd probably have gotten some serious taunting, like we did in 2011 (they were yelling "this ain't ski practice!" and "this ain't the X Games", which is actually kinda clever). Seeing UW's QB standing at the line waiting for the play clock to run down with 8 minutes left in the 4Q is just demoralizing.

I've told myself that at the mid point of next year, if I don't see obvious signs of improvement (not even wins), I'm going to stop watching. I'll always give my token $100 or so donation, but nothing more until something changes. BTW, nobody has ever called me for a donation.

I am past my pain thresh hold. We already made the decision that we are not coming back. Being hassled at the last tailgate was the final straw. There are about 50 other reasons. We were already leaning that way but we all looked at each other and just said, "enuff is enuff". There is no part of this that is fun.

I sure hope there is a sense of urgency with Rick......if this does not get turned around soon, the house will be burned to the ground. It may be too late already.

There is precedent for getting booted out of a conference in modern times, and that was when Temple got kicked out of the Big East for football as it's home attendance went below a 10,000 average and the team was not competitive on the field. CU would join the Mountain West in that case. If that's what you meant by "burned to the ground."

The Buffs will always be #1 in my heart, I guess I'm also resigned to what we are seeing on the field each week. I'm sure some day it will turn around, but until then, as I seem to say way to often, it is what it is.

I'm still rolling with 'em. As Richard Gere once said, "I got no place else to go!!!" We don't get the Pac-12 network, so I actually haven't been able to watch most of our games this year; I get most of my information about the games and how the team looked from message boards like this. Obviously, things haven't really been so sunny, but I don't see it all firsthand.

I was really frustrated during the Hawkins years, because while it was somewhat about coaching AND talent in those days, there was a huge and fatal Crappy Coaching element to it. Embree's stint featured lots of both. Now I believe CU has the right HC, but must dig itself out of a massive talent deficit. A coaching problem can be fixed more quickly than a talent problem, so there's a bit more work ahead. Right now we are like the old Kansas State teams pre-Snyder's arrival. That's the most accurate comparison that comes to mind, if your Buff experience goes back that far.

Kansas State had a couple advantages over where we are today, though. One, they would admit anybody who could fog a mirror. That helps when trying to build a football team via JUCOs. Second, they were in a conference where you didn't have to do much to get better than half the other teams. ISU, KU, and MU were all equally bad. We don't have any other bottom dwellers in the Pac 12. We ARE the bottom dwellers.

Man I wish his dad wasn't as overbearing as he is (was)...

When CU starts winning you'll be back, and so will a lot of people

What if he, and others, find something else to do in the meantime? What if he decides he really likes to go for bike rides on Saturdays? Once lost, it's really hard to get that passion back.

^^^^^^ This, my 2 year old and 4 month old are pretty good distractions when things are bad during the game. I just hope we are at least competitive by the time they are old enough to really know what is going on.

I agree, but CU football is obviously something that BnG really, really loved for decades, as with most of us. If we start winning I think that would bring those people back.

So the opposite of my time as a CU fan

I agree with you on the admissions/JUCOs issue, but I'm my memory KSU was the 59-7 guy and KU, ISU, and MU, while lackluster, were relatively competitive at least with each other. Your point that CU today is missing some of the quick fix advantages Snyder had is true, making CUs job tougher.

missouri has been a legit bowl team/ranked for the better part of a decade. they are doing well in the SEC i might also add. so, i disagree there.

i listened to pretty much every game on the radio the year the Nuggets won 11 games. at that time, i started to feel like the NBA and the Nuggs were different entities altogether. or watching MLB playoffs in the early years of the Rox....and you are like..."wow, that's what good pitching looks like". i've been that way about CU football for a while now.

i've always preferred basketball as a game to football.....but i never thought i'd see the day CU was a hoops school.
