Looks like we are in the final 5 for Cayla McMorris, a 6'1" wing from Brooklyn Park MN. She is a top 100 player by Prospects Nation. Her final 5 are Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Some of the comments: "a world of potential", "her ability to handle the ball and make shots make her special"

Verbal to Wisconsin. I'm getting concerned about our WBB recruiting. We are in on a number of top 100 players, even in final 5 for some, but they are all (so far) going somewhere else. Seems like we took a hit when former recruiting coordinator Coach Jenny Baranchak left to take the head coaching position at Drake and we haven't yet recovered. Need to get better at closing.

I too am now getting concerned. It would have seemed that Robeson and McMorris would have been likely to have choosen the Buffs given their recent success and the staffs' ability to get players to improve.

This says to me that we are right to be concerned....... Didn't even make the top 50. Second year in a row we are in the "Honorable Mention" category. And with UCLA getting the #1 class, 3 others from the PAC in the top 25, and a total of 6 in the top 50, remaining in competition for the upper half of the conference will likely be getting tougher. http://www.bluestarbb.com/blog/index.php/category/chris/%22

Her final 5 is pretty geographically uniform except for the Buffs. I think a lot of kids are motivated by having their families see them play relatively easily. Makes our efforts with Colorado kids that much more important. Not a hard fast rule for sure, but some kids are just wired that way. I'm interested because you played - what's your opinion on getting European or Aussie players. Too much a crap shoot? I know CU went that route for a couple of years with only moderate success. I agree that we should be doing better; Beard-Fails looks pretty good early on.

It seems, so far, that CU's recruiting classes of '13 & '14 are not as talented as those of '11 and '12. What these may mean is that when the current group of sophomores are seniors there won't be a lot of depth/talent in the following classes thus making it tough for the Buffs to make it to the NCAA tourney.

CU still has two scholarships available. I would hope they are looking for a juco or foreign post player who can have an immediate impact. When I say "impact" I mean on both ends of the court. Otherwise, CU will be undersized in the post which is an area of strength among the top teams in the Pac 12.

Brecca Thomas, the point guard CU signed from the Houston area does appear to have the talent to make a solid contribution at some point in her CU career. But for the Buffs to get competitive with the Stanfords of the Pac 12 they need to really have a number of solid players in each class.
