Lindsay in 2014

Just listening to HCMM's post-game thoughts and again he names Lindsay as one of the guys who is going to add speed and be important to our team next year. That is at least the 4th time he has named Lindsay this year.

Given HCMM batting about 1000% on predicting in-game contributions based on practices, I think Lindsay is absolutely going to be an impact player next year either as slot or RB and/or return man, etc. Add Dotson plus Adkins and Powell and I really do think we have a strong stable of RB.

Now we need way better line play, improved 2nd year play out of Sefo and someone to emerge at the WR and TE who can stretch the field and complement Spruce. I know that is asking a lot but if we can get that, our O should be improved next year.

If he does nothing other than give us a threat as a kick returner it will be a major step up. Even if he puts on weight he will probably be smallish for RB but we can certainly use some speed in the passing game.

The issue with Lindsay in the passing game is that he's pretty much DD Goodson and we didn't really show an ability to use that position very well this year. I know there are those that attribute that more to Goodson's limited ability than the scheme, but I don't know if Lindsay brings something to the table that Ross or Goodson do not bring. Time will tell.

Considering he sets the depth chart, I think he's got an advantage when it comes to picking who contributes. (It's batting 1.000 btw.)

He could be a change of pace back behind Adkins/Powell, but that's kind of ToJo's job now. I would have liked to see him stick as a DB, but I guess Mac knows best.

I thought it was more the scheme in our inability to get DD the ball. He made plays when he had the ball in his hands, I'm not sure why there weren't more designed plays to get the ball in his hands.

You are right about 1,000 vs. 1000%-living in Latin America has messed up my English :) It is more than having control of the depth chart. It is that he is been right on when saying a freshman is ready to contribute and be an impact factor. Prior coaching staffs have raved about guys in practice but been wrong about their impact in games (think WB with J. Webb for example)

That RB group scares no one and if the RBs are used like they were this season, it won't matter.

OK, Mr. Gloom & Doom, tell me what part of Adkins stat line for this season do you find unsatisfactory for a freshman RB:
103 carries, 535 yards, 5.2 ypc, 6 TDs. Plus 11 receptions for 127 yds and 1 TD

Dotson Senior year H.S. Stats:
189 carries, 2004 yds, 10.6 ypc, 26 TDs.

Plus Powell bringing the heat on short yardage and then whatever Lindsay can add. I think that is a pretty good backfield.

It's an okay group, but near as I can tell, we use one a time and rarely throw to them. We should be targeting more than one RB this class and then actually use more than one at a time. Crazy concept the rest of the conference has been doing for a while.

One part I agree with is that we should throw way more often to them. Adkins killed on that screen a few weeks ago and I don't think we threw one screen to him this week. I also don't understand why we use powell in the screen game-screens are for getting fast/quick guys in space, that is not Powell's strength.

In general our screens to receivers like DD and Ross or quick RBs like Jones or Adkins few and far between this year. My point, which you kind of accept in your followup here, is that we have a pretty decent RB group for 2014.

I haven't seen Lindsay or Dotson play a single college snap. How could anyone confidently say those guys will be ready to play when the lights come on?

I hope it turns out to be a good group, but I am not holding my breath.

Is Ballage still in play? Canada? I don't think they're out on RB's.

Also, with the pistol, it's usually a one RB system... but wouldn't Powell at FB and Adkins at HB give the Buffs some flexibility?

perhaps you should hold your breath for an extended period. When you regain consciousness, perhaps you will be a more optimistic person.

You don't need to play RBs solely in the backfield.

Was named by his teammates as Offensive Scout Player of the Year. Not sure how meaningful that is. Who won that award in the past few years?

I hear she is sober

I think that award was decided by the coaches, and given that we already know how Big Mac feels about him, it comes as no surprise.

There are a lot of guys that need to add good weight during the offseason. Would like to see

Gillam at 235 pounds
Adkins at 205 pounds
Crawley at 175 pounds
Lidsay at 190 pounds
Gilbert at 245 pounds
Olugbode at 225 pounds
