On the Women's side, it's been a pretty rough start to the non-conference season. Pac-12 just doesn't look very good from top to bottom this year.

Washington, particularly, is a disappointment. Most "experts" had them challenging the Buffs for the top third of the conference. They've lost at home to St. Mary's and Portland to begin the year.

Today is a big opportunity with UCLA hosting #12 North Carolina.

Cal already booked a nice win at Georgetown.

Arizona State got a surprising win at Texas Tech.

Stanford is having no trouble at home with UC Davis, as expected.

But Oregon is sleepwalking at home, down 35-28 to Sacramento State late in the 1st half.

And Wazzu will have an important game for the top-to-bottom conference strength when they host Ole Miss later.

****************************

On the Men's side, there have been some solid wins such as Arizona at SDSU and Oregon taking down Georgetown, but nothing earth shattering. Oregon State's got a chance to make up for some erratic early play by getting a win at Maryland today (ahead of the team's annual White House visit).

WBB:

As expected, Oregon got dismantled at UConn.

Zona with a bad home loss to SF Austin.

Buffs survive 90-87 against Iowa, despite giving up 52 points in the 2nd half.

MBB:

Pac-12 has been winning this week. Nothing that surprising other than Oregon State getting a big one at Maryland.

ASU women are now 5-1 and have to be considered a legit threat after taking down #11 North Carolina with a 17-4 boat race of the Tar Heels in OT.

Updated.

CU Women move up to #11 in the latest poll.

CU Men are "receiving votes" and equivalent to around #36.

Updated records, ranks and RPIs for the Pac-12 men's and women's teams as of Monday 12/9.

what is wrong with Washington this year?

Front court is terrible, they shoot a bunch of jump shots and get destroyed in the post. They are in the bottom 25% of shots at the rim on offense and they give up a top 25% at the rim on defense.

And Romar is trying to kill Wilcox, he basically doesn't come out.

Much more specific than I expected.

Updated based on new AP rankings.

Teams are sorted by RPI for the men & women since we don't have conference records to go by yet. Once we do, I'll start sorting by conference record with overall record as the tiebreaker (standard format).

Huge week for the Pac-12. The men went undefeated in non-conference play. The women only dropped a couple games. Huge gains in RPI on both sides. This is setting up to put a lot of teams in the Dance for both sides and should also make for a very entertaining conference season when it tips off in a couple weeks.

Updated the OP.

Pac-12 is the #4 RPI for the Men and is the #1 conference in Women's.

With the non-conference season over, this is HUGE for multiple bids and eventual Dance seeding.

The Men have 8 teams in the Top 100 with no one outside the Top 200. Everyone also has a winning record, which impacts the numbers.

The Women have 10 teams in the Top 100, with 5 inside the Top 25.

CU MBB ranked #20.

CU WBB ranked #12.

Dance locks (barring epic losses):
Arizona, Oregon, Colorado

Right side of bubble:
UCLA

a chance:
Arizona State, Stanford, California

I think 4 teams getting in sounds right unless on of the (a chance) schools gets hot

The way Oregon is playing in conference right now, and unless they turn things around right quick, I see them as a bubble team at best. My God ... they're 1-3 in conference, play no defense, and they've lost two games at home.

And let me tell you ... it breaks my heart.

Updated for current standings.

Men's team finishes with 5 of its last 7 against the top half of the conference. Opportunity, but an absolutely brutal schedule. 5/7 also on the road.

Women are playing at Oregon Monday night. Need it badly. After that, it's 4/6 at home and only 1/6 against the Top 5. Huge opportunity to close the conference season strong.

Managed to beat Oregon. Hopefully, they can get their act together and finish strong. I don't see an NCAA bid in their future and even a WNIT bid is doubtful.

I'm a hopeless optimist. Buffs are favored in 5 of the last 6. And they showed me in the previous ASU game that CU has the better team if they just play their game.

I'm feeling like this squad is going to run the table and punch its ticket. Not going to try to convince anyone. I don't know if I can defend it. But I've got a good feeling.

I hope you are right. I really do and I hope they get sent to Ames or Iowa City so I can see them play!

You are a hopeless optimist. But that's not all bad.
