The Jayhawks just lost again tonight. This time to Florida, who by all accounts is supposed to be a very good team when fully healthy. I'm just asking the question, I know I'm still on cloud 9. Go Buffs.

Not really, it certainly helps the better they do -- but given our history with them and the fashion we won in, it hasn't.

Yup for now...KU was over ranked to begin with do in part to the Wiggins hype. The value of the win will be known at the end of the season when their entire body of work can be accessed. Should KU go on to the B12 title then everyone will say that we beat them early in the season when their young players were still playing like young players and so on. We could say the same about our loss to Baylor....9 games later I'd venture Baylor is pretty happy they played us the first game of the year.

No - KU had 3 days to recover from Saturday's buzzer beater to play #19 Florida in Florida. Florida had 8 days to prepare after its own buzzer beater loss to UCONN.
I thought KU looked like KU in the 2nd half and nearly pulled off the comeback. I've never seen a KU team play like they did in that first half (Dick Vitale's comment, too). They matched their season high in turnovers in 18 minutes. Part of that was Florida's zone defense, but KU was completely out of sync.
KU loses to Florida by 6 with 24 turnovers and shooting 43%
KU lost to Colorado by 3 with 14 turnovers and shooting 52%
I feel we got KU's better shot and Florida didn't have a much easier time closing them out. KU has to figure out the zone defense (Which is primarily what Florida runs), but they weren't going to do that in 3 days. KU has shown some impressive flashes and I expect them to be pretty dangerous later this year. This is just a murderous stretch in their schedule.
Andrew Wiggins is really good, too.

And I read Florida just got their two star guards back from injuries. Kansas will still go on to be Kansas and have a very good year. Too much young talent and too good a coaching staff not to. Our win against Kansas is going to stay solid and it wasn't a fluke.

The tweet is spot on IMO. Considering that CU was able to stay in the game with 2 true frosh & Mills on the floor says a lot. Breaking down the game our frosh outplayed KU's....and Wiggins is not the second coming of MJ or even Kobe just another player in the long line of the me era.

Tons of karma to Self for scheduling: 1) last year's game vs. CU when his guys had ten days off to rest and pratice before taking on and stomping a tired, road-weary Buffs' team (ever hear of payback?); 2) Self's comments about scheduling in Boulder to give Western Kansas fans a chance to see their team, arrogantly presuming CEC would become Allen FH West; and 3) scheduling a tough opponent on the road only 3 days after playing a game at altitude, when that opponent had 8 days of rest and practice, as well as a chance to scout the Squawks against a very tough CU team, under a very crafty Coach Boyle, who emphasized that the best way of beating KU was to zone 'em. Donovan merely doubled down on what Tad had exposed.
KU will still be in the thick of the B12, we'll have to wait and see how much they learned, to know whether thay can cope with ****Bailer, Iowa St. and Okie Lite in conference play.

Last year, after the Buffs got run in Lawrence, Tad told Self that he should have opted to play in Boulder in 2012 because the Buffs will be favored in 2013.
Tad was right. And we covered.
Wiggins is good. Really good. He needs to be a bit more selfish if you ask me. He is trying to hard to share versus use his natural ability. I think it is unfair to classify him as a me guy. He is quiet, conducts himself well on the court, and has elite, possibly generational, talent. Wiggins needs to learn to be aggressive and that it is ok to have fun out there. Watching him play, I sometimes can't tell if he actually loves playing basketball.

Suffice to say neither MJ or Kobe their first yr in the NBA had an issue with trying to share too much or learn to be aggressive at 18-19 let alone ask if either cared to play the game. Best left to agree to disagree on Wiggins

The win isn't as shiny right now because of a quirky thing called perception. The buzzer beater win happened on a Saturday that featured several college bball battles and a full day of important football games. Most fans only know what they saw on network highlights. Compare that to the Tuesday night national broadcast of 2 ranked teams and virtually no other sports distractions; viewers saw the gators dominate most of the game, with the squawks pulling close late.
Will the win regain some luster come selection Sunday? Absolutely. I still believe that the squawks will win the big tex conference and garner a high seed (only to screw up my bracket -- again).
So yes, it has, but it won't matter in the long run.

Self's way of trying to prepare for the Tourney? Teams that know(or think) they'll be in usually take an approach of using the OOC schedule to try to simulate the Tournament with road neutral site games, larger/NBA arena/dome stadiums against challenging opponents.

Kansas was never going to go like 28-3 this year. We beat a very good and dangerous KU team, but they're going to lose 6-8 games. That doesn't mean our win lost its luster. KU will go deep in the tournament and be ranked throughout the year.
:nod: It'll look good on the Buffs resume come the middle of March.

MJ didn't come into the NBA until after his soph season at UNC. Some considered him the #1 Frosh in the country but it was up for debate. He certainly wasn't dropping 25 a game or being compared to Dr. J at 18. Kobe barely played a lick his rookie year in the NBA, finished 2nd in the 6th man award his 2nd year and didn't become a full time player until his third year. You said Wiggins is just a guy in the ME generation which implies that he is average and selfish. Well, one, everyone who gets paid to analyze or coach basketball would disagree with you that Wiggins is just a guy. Two, is he selfish or not selfish enough? Kobe dropped 81 pts in one game but he's not a part of the ME generation. The ME generation is just a buzz phrase the media uses to get old people to click links and hate on selfish youth as they've done for a millennia. But I digress...The Buffs beat a team littered with NBA prospects and Wiggins is a shoo-in lottery pick. Don't diminish that. Go Buffs!
Kobe played around 15 mpg as a rookie in the NBA. Wasn't asked to be the Lakers best player, like Wiggins is being asked to be in college. Really, the comparisons are unfair to the kid. He could end up being a great player, but still not as good as Kobe or Jordan.
