Another T&F guy with 11.1 speed in the 100M. http://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/Athlete.aspx?AID=3590069

Official Visitor to CU this past weekend. It sounds like he's ready to commit as soon as coaches tell him the scholarship numbers work.

Rivals article has more details and includes the following info:

Henderson recorded 45 tackles, including 40 solo stops, and two fumble recoveries during his senior season at Temple. He considers his speed and aggressiveness to be his best attributes as a player

Temple High! Alma mater of aik's parents. Also the school of Darius Joiner, the OL we were looking at over the summer who committed to Houston.

Team finished a 7-3 season in a fairly competitive district and lost their first playoff game to a team that will be playing in the state championship game. I wonder who if anyone he camped with last summer and what led to this discovery as there are few other teams I see showing interest.

It looks like some Big 12 programs like Texas A&M and TCU were slow playing him. Doesn't look like offers materialized, though.

A lot of that probably has to do with redshirting 3 WRs this year.

Also, and I know I have rose colored lenses sometimes, I really think there's some players in that group. Jeff Thomas allegedly runs a 4.49 and has been working hard to be able to contribute next year. Bobo, Dunston and Ross can all run. Not only that, but to me, Bobo, Dunston and Ross all look like good system fits. X, Z, H respectively.

In truth, we don't know much about our WR guys that redshirted. I refuse to give hype to Jeff Thomas after he was sent home by Embree in 2012 and then was forced to RS this year for issues not related to football. Time to step up and prove something here.

The team is getting a ton of tall defensive backs. Looks like they don't see WR as a huge priority and DB as a
huge need.

It really speaks to the depth issue as we want 5-6 DBs on the field at all time and they are prime guys for ST play.

We only took 2 DBs last cycle and neither redshirted. This pipeline has to be filled with about 4-5 per year.

Why not? I look at his measurements and it looks like an extra half year of physical development could really do him good.
Because I think DBs are better served being on campus. Grayshirts work better for linemen, players recovering from injuries, and players close to masking it academically. JMO though.

Really? You think the plan is to run the D out of the nickle or dime all the time? I'm not a big X's and O's guy, but I figured they ran a lot of multiple DB formations last season because we had serious talent deficiencies along the front seven and out DB's were among our best players. I figured the Buffs would go to some more traditional 4-3 defenses once they started bringing in talent they liked.

I agree. Love OL grayshirts. Maybe a DL, TE or LB who needs to get a lot bigger. But players at positions where speed is the premium rather than size can compete and give a good look in practice while they redshirt. And they may just find their way onto the field on game days. If they don't have that part of their games, you shouldn't sign them anyway.

What are you talking about? I have it on good authority that you can drop a 4.6 guy down to about a 4.3 with proper speed training.

That is definitely not why we ran extra DBs out there. There's this new fangled thing happening in CFB called "the spread". Nickel is a minimum # of DBs you will see against every PAC12 team it appears now going forward, with the exception of OSU and Stanford.

UW under Peterson will spread it out. Utah just hired Christensen (former Mizzou OC) to run their offense, and they were already doing that after dumping Norm Chow a few years ago. USC's Sarkisian got religion this year and went to the zone-read and now appears to want to recruit running QB types at USC.

You will see 6 DBs on the field as often as you see 4, maybe more. Easy to see why we have 2 DB coaches as it presents half the playing time on defense.

He tried to commit on his visit but was told he had to wait as we didn't have room at that time. Seems like the coach isn't aware that offers aren't good forever.

And the coach isn't aware of what the school is properly called, either.

Like I said...he looks like a guy who should GS with us. An extra year in the weight room is always beneficial to 2 star type guys.

Certainly never good having HS coaches in TX or anywhere badmouthing our staff. I really believe our staff is more ethical than most, and probably by a long shot. So I suspect either his coach has little experience with big time college recruiting OR there was miscommunication in there somewhere.

The timing is interesting given that we just lost Dotson and some like Nik are lobbying for another DB. I say interesting in that, apparently the coaches feel they have someone better they can get (aside from obviously Fields and whomever else we are in on at this point).

It looked like we were going to have a boring few weeks heading up to signing day (with the exception of 1-2 signees) is shaping up to be more interesting after all.
