what's really going to suck:

if this does result in texass and their ball-riding posse of 3rd tier texas schools to join the p12, and then we are forced into some p16 east configuration with these assholes and ****ing nick saban ends up coaching at texass, i'm going to be royally pissed off on so many levels.

i might have to give up college football.

I kind of thought theyd move brown to ad like wisconsin and ksu did. Would have given them a safer landing than firing him.

I was wrong

Todd Graham to Texass

Part of Patterson's contract states he cannot hire any ASU employees (Todd Graham) for some amount of time.

"But Crow said his permission was needed for Patterson to specifically leave for Texas and that “as a function of our agreement, he’s not allowed to hire someone from ASU.”

Patterson’s contract includes this non-compete section: “Patterson will not, without first obtaining the consent of the President, obtain employment as an athletic director at an institution within the state of Arizona or at the University of Texas at Austin. The parties agree that money damages would be inadequate to remedy a breach of this covenant.”

That's becoming less and less popular as we've discussed here. And this is even more the case at Tennessee which has the biggest AD in the nation complete with the Longhorn Network. The hire indicates it was a business hire more than a sports hire. Texas liked Patterson's pro sports experience.

This would be awesome. Pac 16 east pod: UT, OU, TT, CU

Or, just P16 east: UT, OU, OSU, TT, Utah, CU, UA, ASU

When Patterson was with the Trail Blazers, he was brought in to clean house and end the Jail Blazers era. Not sure if that applicable to Texas but it's interesting. Also, I had not noticed that both his undergrad and law degrees are from Texas.

Don't think the PAC12 presidents want anything to do with Baylor for the same reason they don't want anything to do with BYU.

Baylor can scream and cry all they want but the presidents are the gatekeepers. If the money is good enough for Texas and OU to go to the PAC they will let the PAC exclude Baylor from the package. They may act like they are on Baylors side but the money will be the final determinant for them going and Baylor not.

Dear students, we've taught you; Don't discriminate, embrace diversity and varying cultures. Except when it comes to Christianity and their varying institutions. Then **** em.

I don't think it's that, Miami. The main issue is academic freedom at the graduate research level.

wait a sec....the mods have made the use of "hook" an asteriskable offense?
