James Franklin / Vanderbilt

I'm not sure of your angle here, Eddie. Are you concerned that Mike Mac will leave for Vandy?

No. I can't picture Mac leaving CU after 1 year. His staff has made some positive steps forward and I imagine he what's to be there to enjoy turning this program around.
Also it is good Franklin stays out east, so we don't have to recruit against him very often.

I don't think it's even a remote threat that Mike Mac leaves (I can't imagine a world in which Vandy is a better job than CU--and didn't he leave Vandy as a student?). I was just trying to understand the sentiment in the OP.

I'm sure he's talking about HCMM being a candidate at Vandy and just that. My thoughts:

1. HCMM's Dad was forced out at Vandy and HCMM transerred out of Vandy.
2. The guy who follows Franklin may have a tough task equaling his success and could be a career ender. CU is all upside.
3. 1 year is too quick for either party to likely be interested.

But yeah, depending on the ADs state of mind, HCMM might get a call.

Hadn't thought of that, but even if that were the case, I'm not scared of losing him. I know he's got a personal connection there, but that's an even tougher place to win.

It just makes me a bit nervous when Louisville is sniffing around Ft. Ram. Especially when currently Vandy is in MUCH better shape then CU. I will admit it's more connect the dots then anything

HCMM leaves for Vandy
Charlie Strong sues Texas and Red McCombs for racial discrimination
Lawsuit is settled for $100million and a release from his contract
Strong takes CU job for peanuts since money no longer an issue leaving $5 million assistant salary pool
Texas in desperation mode hires McElwain, CSU hires Kiffin - both Texas an CSU implode for a decade
Strong immediately flips McCaffrey and Ballege
CU wins national title in 2015.

Louisville also interviewed Petrino so they are casting a wide net

This.

HCMM would not have as much rebuilding to do
HCMM would have a more fertile recruiting ground
HCMM is familiar with the school and the area
HCMM is probably inexpensive to steal
Not knowing much about Vandy I believe they value academics like CU does so that might also matter vis a vis HCMM. Correct me if I am wrong.

Koolaid? That was creative writing at its best. Out of rep.

MikMac could be a candidate at Vandy. Until I hear he's interviewing, I am not going to get bent out of shape.

Much better? That seems like hyperbole. His resume is enhanced by cupcakes, look at the actual wins, not just the record.

Even if we lost Mike Mac, I wouldn't be super devastated. I don't think he's irreplaceable. Basically, he's not Tad Boyle or close to that at this point.

A 4th head coach in five years? Sounds like fun. I am sure the truly irreplaceable candidates will be fighting to get to Boulder.

Not worried about losing MM this year. If we get to a bowl game next year, my level of concern might go up slightly. Whether we choose to believe it or not, the upside here is pretty good. For the right coach, the possibilities are limitless.

No worries. I got a look at Benson's super secret, emergency, short list of candidates for the job. Prerequisites are: success at BCS level, understand Colorado culture, and demonstrated recruiting acumen. Ladies and Gentlemen...the new head football coach would be....Tad Boyle.

I just do not see MacIntyre as hot coaching prospect. He honestly was not that hot last year. He has only had one good year out of 4 as a head coach, I get the rebuilding San Jose State but I don't think that is significant in the minds of many BCS programs.

I'm sure it wouldn't be but who knows, it could be a blessing in disguise. Btw, did I say I wanted to get rid of him? All I'm saying is I wouldn't be too worried. He'd also have to pay a buyout to get out.

Maybe not here but in the Bay Area they were and are still falling over them selves about Mac2.
