2015 QB Recruiting

Imagine if we were able to get Ballage and Fields for 2014 plus Callahan and hold onto Rodriguez for this class….

You would think given our small depth chart, and no offense to Apsay but no real blue chips within a few years of him (I consider Sefo the likely starter through his senior year but that of course could change), you would think HCMM& Co. have a real shot at a major 4 star QB for the 2015 class.

Would be nice to add onto our early commit for 2015 with a big time QB from the deep QB class in 2015.

Next few months will tell a lot. Dont think we are serious contenders for Sheriron Jones or Jake Browning.

If the 2015 QB class out west is deeper than average-I think you have been saying that as well-than one would think there are more to go around and given the OP, we should have a better shot than the average year to finally get a real blue chip QB.

If those statements are relatively true, than any insights on our best shot for 2015 at QB?

Your guess is as good as mine. The only target tied to CU at the moment is Gentry out of New Mexico because he camped with us last summer.

Just looked up Gentry and we are not listed as having offered him. Weird thing about him is he only has 2 offers from good schools (Louisville and Tennessee). Given how early QB's commit, you'd think we would have offered by now if we were interested. I couldn't find which QBs we have offered by I recall we have offered Barnett and Browning. Any others?

Gentry is less mobile than what I think we are after right now. The term, feet stuck in mud comes to mind.

The guys listed here as 4-stars will have those ratings change. I put zero faith in those ratings until the offers come in.

Will be interesting to see what our backup plan is after Browning and Jones.

Fair enough. But shouldn't the offers already be coming in? Of the 6 top QBs for the 2015 class according to rivals 2 are already committed.

Name to watch is Bryce Perkins out of Chandler, AZ. Athletic QB who may be on the verge of being a big-time recruit.

I hadn't heard of him but just looked him up on Rivals. Looks like we have some stiff competition already with offers from fUCLA, ASU and Northwestern. Any hint that we are talking with him?

As Holic says, the coaches are looking for a more athletic type of QB and he was mentioned as a standout at the Army Combine on a couple different sites.

UCLA is going hard after 5* Josh Rosen and ASU seems to be favoring other QBs at the moment (including Sheriron Jones).

Not unusual for QBs to start picking up offers during the early camp circuit in May. This year CA is so stacked, everyone is jumping in early. But remember a few years ago the top ranked QBs in CA didn't start getting offers until the summer.

Rosen is waiting on a Stanford offer. If not, he is probably all fUCLA. Can't help but compare him to Luck out of HS.

Would be very cool for us to get a dual threat guy who could truly do both well. Love to see HCMM & Lindgren open up that playbook with more read option, etc. Don't get the sense that Apsay is much more mobile than Sefo and Sefo is not overly mobile although I know there is speculation he was injured all year.

I've been reading up on some early favorites for the QB's out west:

Rypien: Wazzu
Brady White: Oregon/UCLA
Rosen: Stanford
Lewerke: ASU
Dillman: SEC

We stopped by yesterday to see Arizona QB Brian Lewerke according to twitter
Interesting. Only showing offers from ASU and UCLA but apparently tons of Pac schools and beyond are visiting him now (per a recent Rivals article).

Someone in another thread, I think on Rivals, thought we should make a pitch for Rosen given that one of his favorite targets, Fields, just committed to CU. Something tells me that works better the other way around (i.e. a QB commits and convinces one of his WR to join him). But maybe if Stanford doesn't offer and he likes our depth chart better? Probably never gonna happen, but you never know.

Might not mean a lot, but Lindgren is following this kid on twitter: Nolan Henry , the only other QB he's following is Browning.

According to Scout, Henry camped at CU last year.

100% chance MacIntyre will like the QB he signs in the 2015 class.

haha

He did sound absolutely stoked about where he stands for a 2015 QB. And, yes, I used the word 'stoked'. It seemed to be the best fit. :smile2:

And if he doesn't he'll never let on.

When was the last time we heard a coach talking about a recruit say "Well, he kind of sucks and probably will never be a decent starter but we couldn't get anybody better so we took the best warm body we could find."

SIAP ... Per the Twitter world, CU offered Servite (Anaheim) QB 2015 QB Travis Waller today

Looks like he's going to be right on the 3*/4* line and have a good number of high-level offers. Petersen likes him -- offered at both Boise and UDub.
