I really like jaron, but I feel like he has been trying to hard to fill spencers shoes. He is explosive, but he's been turing in 1/6 performances with 1 assist and 4 turnovers every game and it's killing us.

Today (vs Utah) I thought stalzer played well, and while he's not as good on offense as jaron, he's no where near as big of a defensive liability. Stalzer played well, didnt turn over the rock, and wasnt getting burned on D all the time.

XT I also thought played really well today and didnt do anything dumb aside from that play near the sidelines by the student section. While he wasnt as aggressive as I'd like to see him, he was able to get open and knock down the 3 ball when he got the rock. Again, he didnt get burned on D.

I guess my point is that Jhop is just too young and did too much dumb stuff. Even though he's probably got a larger skill set than Stalzer and XT, I dont think he should continue starting from here on out. Too big of a liability on defense and his offense doesnt make up for it.

Who would you start, stalzer or talton?

was there a reason you left off Booker? the guy is averaging over 5 assists a game in his last four. I guess to be honest it doesn't really matter in Tad's offense. A PG just brings the ball up the floor and so does it really matter in our offense where guys just stand around.

If I had to rank your choices it would be:

Hopkins - we need him to get ready for next year, and sitting on the bench does not get him ready.
Talton - his outside shooting can be a major attribute to the team
Eli - if he plays within his limitations it really helps the team.

I hope that Tad goes with XT to start the Wazzu game.

Not only did XT earn it with his performance today, but I think that J-Hop would be well served to have some of the weight lifted off his shoulders. We don't need him to be Spencer.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but my vote goes for Stalzer. I think XT is better when not asked to be the primary ball handler and agree that J-Hop needs to slow things down a little bit.

J hop has to start the rest of they way out, it's not Tad's style to kill a kids confidence after a bad game/stretch.

I didnt put ski because ski is a starter (and plays the 2). These 3 guys are not going to take ski's spot - he's earned his keep.
point guard or whatever, it doesnt matter who takes the ball up the floor - who is the 5th starter? XJ, Wes, Jelly and Ski....which one of these guys is #5?

from Tad's presser about who starts going forward:

“Who starts and who plays well that night is going to dictate the minutes and that’s where consistently from a player standpoint really helps me as a coach.”

Talton. Lets see what he can do. I like him and Ski on the floor at the same time. Right now Hopkins looks like a fish out of water running the point.

J-Hop should start to see if he's feeling his offensive game that particular night. XT right now is a huge energy guy who can change the game by subbing in and injecting life into the team. When you have that player who can consistently bring that spark that others can't provide, you strategically put him in the game to turn the tide. XT has shown he can be that guy. Just hoping he can more consistently be that guy. He's coming on like he was late last season. Definitely a start slow, second half guy.

Agree with this. Have Jaron start the next game at home and remind him to let the game come to him. Ask XT to be the spark off the bench.

Jhop to start, but not to play starter's minutes. we are building for next year more than anything right now.

I've been saying all year that Talton should be starting , earlier it was next to SD, with Booker the 6th man, first off the bench.

Now with no SD, its time to start XT next to Ski, with Hpokins first off the bench, then bring in Stalzer, if JH shows too much "deer-in-the-headlights". Give XT the confidence to shoot, as well as bring up the ball, defend and board. XT had three boards early in his time on the floor that gave him confidence in other aspects of his game. Stalzer's steal and coast-to-coast lay-up gave the Buffs momentuum on their 14-2 run.

Hopkins needs to be the 6th man IMO. We talk about not ruining his confidence, well he doesn't have a whole lot right now. Let XT show what he can do. We've got Wazzu at home next, if there is ever a time to tinker it's now.

At no point in this season should XT have started over Ski

Agree with CVille, Hopkins needs to be the 6th man

Hopkins, I don't believe, was ever really brought here to be a true PG ala Dinwiddie. Hence, Dom Collier. Agree with most here that he's better off as the 6th man. XT is a pure point guard & coming off one of his best games. No brainer

I dont know if I agree with you. Everyone was planning on this being spencer's last year, and tad probably thought jaron could bridge the gap between spencer and dom's freshman year, as I suspect he wouldnt be ready to contribute 30+ min/gm like spencer was doing prior to leaving.
However, all that is out the window now with spencers injury.
