Not setting the bar high enough

So Rick George says he expects us to get to a bowl game next year, his reasoning being that he sets the bar high.... but why not set the ball even higher?

I am setting my own bar for next season. Next season, the buffs will win the superbowl! Also the buffs will win the Stanley Cup the same season! By setting the bar this high, even if we fail to meet these goals, we'll at least win the national title or something. That's how this works, right?

I am quite sure you have bitched for year about the low expectations. Now you are pissed?

"Fat, drunk and stupid, is no way to go through the rest of your short, miserable life, son."

Im sorry. You guys are right. I should just take the unbridled enthusiasm and run with it, despite no mention of a plan to reach the seemingly unrealistic goals. It will just naturally happen. All together now! 10 wins and no excuses! One, two, three, bowl game!!! *high fives everybody*

I guess I do not get the point of your original post. It is not uncommon for a CEO to set the vision and the people under him to develop the tactics to achieve the vision. I guess I am wondering what you are looking for in his goal setting. Half the people think he is throwing the coach under the bus, and many think it is time for better goals. I just have no idea where you are coming from.

Fans that set the bar too high end up getting pissed by the end of the season when the team doesn't meet those expectations. They usually end up blaming the coach. Teams usually play to their talent level, CUs talent is average at best. 6 wins might be a possibility, but if they really want to compete they can't continue to have classes at the bottom of the PAC.
