Hate on me, but I don't think we deserve or should go to the dance

We are just not playing consistently well and at times are looking kind of ugly. Not too many impressive wins since SD went down. I honestly think we may be better off going to the NIT this year. The way we are playing now if we got into the NCAA our seeding would not be good and we are likely headed for a 1 and done.

1 and done does more for the program than an NIT title. More for player development? No, but we have to build the program.

I agree with you that we our not NCAA Tourney material. I don't agree with you that a one-and-done is worse than an NIT berth. But that's beside the point. This team, as constituted, is not a tourney team. There is absolutely nothing impressive about anything we've done since Spence went down. Of course, none of this matters if we win two more times, as I think that would lock us in, but the way we've played of late (and we know the committee likes to look at this) makes us look downright terrible. Now of course I'm hoping we make the tourney, but I do not expect anything out of us this year (at least if we continue playing like we have the last...1.5 months.

I feel your frustration but we need to fight through this. We have huge confidence issue presently. That can change.... Hope we see some Turnaround

The NIT is NEVER the better option. NEVER.
I hear the negativity on this suggestion and I knew it would come but if we are going to play as ugly as we are now, I am not sure that is so good when all the eyes are watching. I get the argument but my point isn't just what's better for us (and I do think more games in the NIT might help our younger players more than 1 and out), but I am also questioning whether we deserve being in.

OUr good wins were with SD. What is our RPI, what is our record, etc. since SD left? Not that great. If we can't play competitively down the stretch than we probably don't deserve to be in. JMHO

We should just turn down any postseason invitations. Then there's no chance of us being embarrassed.

Like I said in my post, it's more important right now to continue to build the program profile than to get kids extra practices.

Whether we deserve it is one matter.

But anyone who argues the NIT is a better option simply doesn't get it. Not even worth a response.

The NIT over the NCAA? Sure. Just like I'll tell my son that he's better off on the JV team and being a star than to take a shot at Varsity.

We deserve to be in the tournament simply because I don't think there are 68 teams that deserve it more than us. That's a testament to how soft the bubble is than us playing real well. Anything can happen once you are in.

Just listen to Cville on the NIT, that's all.

Not to say I wouldn't root for them in the NIT, but I'd much rather go to the Big Dance and lose than win the whole damn thing and proclaim to be #69.

Just winning one more and avoiding a bad loss in the P12 Tourney should do that.

I think we suck right now but it is a weak bubble so we will probably squeak in. Unless we lose our next two and our first game in the pac12 tourney. The team can fully blame themselves and their ****ty efforts.

So would one more win get us to Dayton or do we need two more wins (including P12 Tourney) to avoid that?

I believe we deserve to dance, however the possibility of losing our next three (1 and done in tourney) is looking very realistic. A 5 game losing streak will definitely keep us out.

Who knows. One more gets us in. Given our **** play, we deserve whatever happens. We've had our chances to control our seeding but we obviously don't choose to do so.

I have a hard time saying definitely, especially at this point. It could become that way, but the bubble is so weak, I can see us getting in but we'd probably be in Dayton.

I believe winning that (avoiding a bad loss) probably does the trick. Again, it's testament to a **** bubble more than our own merit. JMHO.
At this point, I think that would put us on the bubble for Dayton versus the "round of 64," anything more were ~90% in the real first round.

Needless to say, the NIT is not the better option even for a struggling team. We've seen it before - a struggling or marginal team gets in, gets a hard-fought win in the first round, there's an upset in the other half of the bracket and suddenly you're playing on the 2nd weekend. You always want that shot.

I'd also say we'd have more to lose in the NIT most likely atleast in the early rounds. What's more embarrassing than losing to hungrier team like Old Dominion beat us in 2006?

I think the NIT is moreso like the meaningless bowls, the better team doesn't necessarily win as much as they should. (I haven't looked at stats but it would appear that way in a watered down tourney).

They are considering teams with 15, 16 wins right now. Sure we aren't looking great, but there are not 36 teams better than us (conference title games, assuming we don't win ours).

Even if we move to the bubble our numbers are very strong (because of the 2011 fiasco).

If you think there are 36 more deserving teams list them here. The list will start to get real thin after about 25-27 teams.

Do you think the ducks are more deserving than we are?

If they get to 9 Pac wins they arguably have a case over us. Already within a few spots of us in RPI. However, I completely agree the bubble is **** and will likely prove our saving grace.

I don't know if they deserve it or not. In a stronger, deeper bubble they probably wouldn't make it. As it is, I'm not really impressed with CU's overall resume but they have the computer numbers and SOS behind them.

I still will be pretty nervous on Selection Sunday if we lose the next two by double digits, win one Pac 12 tourney game, lose to a top 4 seed by double digits again. Oregon and ASU are really the only quality wins in conference play.
