CU Mens Lacrosse to take over #1 national ranking in MCLA

CSU was ranked #1 in the preseason and CU was #2, but expect that to change with the new ranking.

CU manhandled the Texas Longhorns 18-10. Meanwhile, CSU held on to beat UT on Sunday, 4-3. CSU also edged out a 8-6 win over Grand Canyon Univ, who is not a MCLA LAX power.

Here are the MCLA polls and you can click on each team to see the schedule.

Big game on Friday night at Kittredge Field 7pm vs. #4 BYU, followed by #7 Michigan State on Saturday night at 7pm. (preseason rankings). BYU has already lost to Boston College (who CU destroyed).

Get out and watch some really good lacrosse. For those who don't know, MCLA Lacrosse is run just like a varsity sport, just no money from the University. These guys have mandatory training year round and practices, they fly to games, and there is a national championship game every year. Last year CSU beat CU for the national championship in Greenville, SC.

This year the tourney will be in Orange, CA from May12-17.

Better be our next varsity sport.

With that out of the way: very cool that they're looking at grabbing #1 this week. Great club program.

Speaking of great club programs at CU, I have a question. Would Swimming & Diving be successful as D1 or would it be a hopeless cause in the Pac-12? They won another club national championship last year, but it's hard to see the Buffs competing with the Pac-12.

I think it could have moderate success, especially with the women. One of our good friends is choosing right now between DU, CSU and a few others. She would go to CU if they had D1.

Swimming in the Pac-12 is like volleyball, you need to bring in elite athletes to be able to compete with the rest of the conference.

Would Missy Franklin be in Boulder if CU had a program?
No. And that's from her mouth as I worked with her and her family at makeahero.org over the last year.

We would never be a national power. I don't think we could be in any of those well established sports without something unexpected happening, which is why an emerger like Lacrosse has interest from PAC.

Dominated a very good BYU team 17-7, play another tough game tonight against Michigan State.

Should be Comcast Ch. 105 I believe. Taking on #1 ASU and being on TV even just regional is a very, very rare thing for an MCLA team.
