From CU SID David Plati: BOULDER, Colo. - The University of Colorado has selected Levy Restaurants to be its new food and hospitality partner for Folsom Field, the Coors Events Center and all East Stadium Club events, athletic director Rick George announced Wednesday.

If the Levy Restaurants name rings familiar to Coloradoans, it is because it has partnered with the Pepsi Center since it opened in October 1999. Levy has created and operated the food and hospitality experiences of the Pepsi suites, club level and press room for Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche games, concerts and touring shows, along with handling private special events.

In addition to all the game day and non-game day food and beverage experiences for Folsom Field, Levy will also oversee the hospitality needs of both the planned north end zone club in the stadium and the northeast terrace in CU's Athletic Complex Expansion, which is expected to break ground later this spring with a target completion date of August 2015. As part of the multi-million dollar renovation project, Levy and CU will partner to design a customized experience for Buffalo fans which also includes a refresh of concessions areas.

"We are excited about our partnership with Levy," George said. "They are known in this industry for the quality of their food and their hospitality is excellent. We are looking forward to new opportunities as we begin our long-term relationship with Levy."

CU and Levy have agreed to a 10-year contract that commences this April 1; it includes an option to extend after five years.

"We love CU's commitment to creating great fan experiences and share their strategic vision to bring them to a new level through food and hospitality," said Andy Lansing, Levy Restaurants President and CEO. "We are thrilled to work together in every aspect, from broadening culinary offers, being mindful of campus sustainability and welcoming guests with hospitality that embodies the pride of the University of Colorado."

Levy Restaurants (www.levyrestaurants.com) is recognized as one of America's fastest growing and most critically acclaimed restaurant companies, and is the leader in premium sports and entertainment dining. Levy was named one of the 10 most innovative companies in sports in the world by Fast Company magazine.

The company's diverse portfolio includes award-winning restaurants such as James Beard Award-winning Spiaggia in Chicago, Fulton's Crab House, Portobello and Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe at Walt Disney World Resort, renowned sports and entertainment venues like Wrigley Field in Chicago, Churchill Downs in Louisville, STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and American Airlines Arena in Miami, Ohio State University Athletics and has serviced high profile events including the Super Bowl, World Series, the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament, Kentucky Derby, NHL, MLB and NBA All-Star games and the Grammy Awards.

Levy takes over from Centerplate, which had the CU contract dating back to 2003 when the east side stadium expansion was completed. "We appreciate our relationship with Centerplate," George said. "They did everything first class and have been a very good partner."

If they figure out a way to sell beer, good. Otherwise, who really gives a ****?

I do. RG is committed to improving the game day experience and actually bringing in quality concessions is part of that process. Yes, we all want beer. The obstacle to that is well above RG's head. But I'd like to enjoy foodie food in a foodie town.

Another step in the right direction. I'll be happy if they actually remember to have hot chocolate available when it's freezing cold (and don't run out).

When it comes to "fan experience", it's not any one thing. It's about all the things working together. Concessions is a key piece to the puzzle.

so the only thing I have experience with on the list is the Kentucky Derby and the concessions are pretty well run for the sheer amount of people they have there.

Every little thing helps.

I'm sure that agreement took up a lot of RG's time, too. There is a ton to think about with that within the current scope and the changes that will occur at Folsom with the new facilities and over a 10-year term.

Did Kyle Ringo write what was in the OP or was it a CU press release?

Because there's a Camera article by Kyle Ringo that repeats it exactly but doesn't cite anything. If it's his writing, we should credit.

it was the press release from the SID per Adam. Oh Ringo.

It is a good move. The concessions now are bad. They take a long time to serve you and many of them of out of stuff early in the game.

Maybe the basketball Club Room will be a little better run as well now.

that would be nice. always came off as so amateurish. You could tell they were getting bad feedback because it changed throughout the year.

Pre-pour beer

Add some Cash only bars to teh current suite of bars.

Done.

I tried buying concessions twice last year and they couldn't accept cards before the game. Fail. RG doing work

Flat screen TVs in the concourse and hospitality suites.

It's not the bad concessions that are keeping people away. By bother changing?
