Unless my search skills have completely failed me, we don't have a F4 thread yet. I read on this forum earlier this year that CU is now a basketball school, so that seems an egregious oversight. With hopes of Dinwiddie coming back next year, we should watch the games closely this year to prepare better for the experience in Indy.:thumbsup:

Kentucky vs Wisconsin
Wildcats 1.5 point favorites. Comments in the E8 thread about what a contrast in philosophies this game showcases.
Wisconsin is my #3 team, so F**k 'em Bucky! I've been wearing red all week (except Monday I wore Brewers stuff) and can't believe how excited I am. My dad is coming this weekend from Wisconsin (first family to visit us in CO) and we're stoked for the game. Note Wisconsin won at Florida early this year. It's so easy to be a Badger fan.

One thing to keep in mind: Wisconsin/Florida game was in Madison, and Florida was missing Wilbekin, Finney Smith and Harris. So in terms of being a preview of a potential championship game, it has a huge asterisk.
 
oops, you're right about the location, my bad. Yes, Wisconsin was playing better and Florida was a different team. But this was a Badger friendly spin from me, conveniently ignored.

It seems like there hasn't been much buzz about this year's Final Four but I don't think that it has anything to do with the teams that are there. It's probably due to a combination of baseball starting this past week and too much attention being given to NFL off-season activities. The FF in the past has been on the weekend just before baseball starts.

Meanwhile, it makes for a pretty big weekend in the Dallas are with the Final Four and NASCAR both in town.

With the new baseball playoff format, I think they're beginning a week earlier. The same scenario I believe happened last year. In the past, Opening Day and the Championship Monday were usually the same day. MLB did those Friday openers for a few years, but it appears they've stopped that.
 
My interest in the NCAA Tournament declines every weekend unless a team I root for is still alive or there is a very compelling story line (i.e., undefeated UNLV with a Duke rematch from the year before or little Butler trying to shock the world).

This year, there's nothing.

UConn's an elite coming off scandal.

Florida's an elite that I simply don't care about.

Kentucky's a hyper-elite that is the poster child for a lot of things I don't like in college basketball.

Wisconsin's a hyper-consistent excellent program with a coach I respect... but I really don't like what that Bo Ryan style of play has done to college basketball so I don't want to cheer for it.

Since I had UofA winning it all in my pools, when they lost, I naturally stopped caring. The gambling factor adds a lot of interest for me. I know Rovell says just to skip the brackets and enjoy the games for what they are; if I did that I would've stopped caring by-and-large once the Buffs were eliminated. I'll probably watch the Final Four, but it's not quite appointment TV like it would've been if I had stake in the outcome.
 
The Final Four is this weekend? I forget since my bracket completely busted out last weekend... I can still root for UK, though. My folks and lots of family live down that way - equally split between UK and Louisville fans. My sister being a UK alum had me leaning that way last weekend even though that was the final blow to my bracket.

The new deal, TBS was only interested if they were going to get a fair share of the deal. If they didn't do this, ESPN would've beat out CBS. The next two years, the semis are going to be on TBS then they'll rotate both the FF and CG between the two.

Was listening to a little of the game in the car and Jim Grey introduced "The Great" Jerry Jones before he interviewed him, I almost puked out the window.
 
I agree a lot with the people talking about not having a team in it. Doesn't have a high likelyhood of happening but I'd like to see UConn win just so we don't have to deal with the inflated egos of the SEC or the B1G.

I think this is impacted by the one and done kids. In a year like this one in which I haven't been able to follow CBB outside of the Buffs as much as I used to I don't know enough about the key players on each of the teams to have much emotional investment. If we had the players for at least two years I think the interest level would be much higher.

So TNT has a Florida alum on the broadcast team for the first game. Now for the UK game they have Rex Chapman, and he's pulling no punches in terms of showing where his loyalties lie. What the hell kind of BS is this???? I'd definitely be pissed if I was a UConn or Wiscy fan...
 
I really want Kentucky to win it all. Not because I like them, but because it shows how badly the tournement committee wanted to stack the deck against Wichita St.

Eight seed. Yeah. Why didn't they do what they wanted to do, and just give Wichita a 3 seed or so.

You know that TruTV has (had) the Wisconsin and UConn broadcast teams, right? They have the national team with Nantz on TBS and then a broadcast team for each team on TNT and TruTV.

That's the idea of the teamcasts. Like Carolina mentioned(and I did earlier), the other teams have them as well. TNT is more widely known than TruTV so I guess there's "favoritism" in that aspect.

It sounds like UK gets a bad rap regarding the perception of their program:

Over the past eight seasons, Kentucky has had 13 “one-and-done” players—more than twice as many as any other program, according to The Washington Post. The team has taken its share of criticism for the tally over the years, with many people complaining about its supposed disregard of academics.

But how do the students stack up in the classroom? I thought it would only be fair to examine the team’s academic results over the past few years and to explore the records of a few one-and-done players.

It turns out, the team’s NCAA Graduation Success Rate has improved sharply in recent years, to more than 80 percent (it was 44 percent a few years ago). And in the past two years, its NCAA Academic Progress Rate, which measures team members’ real-time progress toward degrees, has exceeded the national average. Over the last three years, the team has had a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average.
