Club sports successful in weekend of national championships

Four Colorado club teams represented the Black and Gold this weekend at national championships and brought back some titles to Boulder.

Women’s volleyball, gymnastics, the triathlon team and swimming and diving all traveled to respective competitions, with the triathlon team claiming their fifth consecutive national title in Tempe, Ariz..

I really hope that with increased revenue from the Pac-12 and football facilities that we will have an opportunity to convert some of our great Club sports into Varsity.

Nothing would make me happier than to have a varsity swim program at CU. I don't see it in the cards, though. The new rec center doesn't have an olympic sized pool, which is necessary these days. If they ever get around to constructing a true athletic complex, maybe then. Until then, we'll have to be content with club championships.
