What are you hoping for out of this weekend's CU camp?

My wish list:

1. Cade Cote to commit.
2. Get a QB -- whichever of Kyle Kearns and Ross Bowers show best
3. Hopefully see some in-state guys step up and impress: Isaiah Young, Tyus Carter, Frank Umu, Matt Gaiter

Find the best QB and get a commit. And obviously a visit changes everything, but as of Cade Cote's last update, we are firmly on the outside looking in on that recruitment

I'm interested to see what offers come out of the camp. Wonder if guys like Riley Brand and Q Drennan leave with offers.

1. Commitment from someone from out of state
2. Figure out who we prefer at QB and get a commitment from them.
3. Identify some interesting in state guys to either offer or follow closely heading into their senior season (like Terran Hasselbach last year)

Hmmm. I guess I got a different perspective than you on Cade. I'm probably just bad at reading an 18yr old.

Just looking for a clearer picture on which QBs we're favoring after seeing some throw in person and see some more offers go out. Hoping for a nice weekend in Boulder to help the coaches close on the guys they want.

I don't have the ability to talk to the kids attending this camp. What I would hope is that kids go back to their coaches telling them how cool it was and how much fun they had. That is where I see long term benefit out of the whole camp dynamic. Locally, I get better feedback from the BYU attendees than the Utah attendees. I have not dug deep into the how or why. Part of it may be that the kids that are BYU targets tie that to their faith and have thus been fans since they were cognizant of teams. Utah is fresher in their success.

My sarcastic side wants to say something like "It will be raining stars in Colorado next week."

You should let your sarcastic side speak more and your whiny pessimistic side speak less.

Supposed to be a ****ty weekend weather wise.

Seems like today has been rough. Hoping we get a break and some sunshine tomorrow. Slogging around damp fields I'm sure someone will quip "Just think, when you start playing here we'll be able to practice on a dry indoor field!"

Adam's got some good info on who is attending: https://colorado.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1646040

Better talent than many years at the CU Boulder camp. The upcoming camps in Cali are going to be very well attended by CU prospects judging by the early reports.

Here is the June Camp Schedule:

June 1 - Boulder, Individual Camp
June 2 - Boulder, Youth Camp
June 6 - Seattle, Northwest Elite Camp
June 6-8 - Hawaii, PIAA Maximum Exposure Camp
June 11 - Boulder, 7-on-7 Passing Tournament and Lineman Challenge Camp
June 14 - Mission Viejo HS, Mission Viejo Camp
June 14 - University of Redlands, Redlands Skills Camp
June 15 - Inderkum HS, Sacramento Camp
June 18 - Boulder, Individual Camp
June 19-21 - Layton, Utah, All-Poly Camp
June 20 - Houston Baptist University, Husky Camp
June 21 - Heroes Stadium, San Antonio Camp
June 22 - Grand Prairie HS, Dallas Camp
June 26 - Boulder, Kicking Camp
June 28 - Boulder, Individual Camp

Hat tip to Adam for pulling that together. He also mentioned that the NCAA rules changes, so MacIntyre will actually be able to be out on the road working these this year.

Tomorrow, Hawaii, Mission Viejo, Sacramento, and the Redlands camp seem like the big ones. Top targets should be at all of those stops with a chance to make a connection with those recruits. Wonder how many Pac-5 kids will be at the Mission Viejo camp.

Rivals report from the Mile High 7on7 this Saturday:

https://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1646182

Top Performers:

  1. DB Eric Lee (Valor Christian)
  2. QB Tommy Lazzaro (Pine Creek)
  3. ATH Arealous Hughes (Rangeview)
  4. RB Milo Hall (Cherry Creek)
  5. DB Jalen Rakim Moore (Denver East)
  6. DB Avery Anderson (Pine Creek)
  7. RB DJ Luke (Cherry Creek)
  8. DB Collin Willis (Pine Creek) - 2017

Player notes on a couple guys camping with CU today:

Lazzaro's hot offseason contoured at the Mile High 7-on-7, as he contoured to show off a strong arm and impressive accuracy. It certainly helped his cause that his wide outs were superior athletes to the defensive backs they faced, but Lazzaro made his share of impressive throws and crammed the ball through tight windows. Lazzaro is still awaiting his first scholarship offer and plans to camp at Kansas State, Colorado, Wyoming and Arizona.

Moore was probably the day's most pleasant surprise. He has the size and closing speed necessary to play safety at the college level but needs a little bit of polishing technique-wise. Even still, he made as many plays as any defensive back in attendance and showed a nose for the football as well as a hyper-aggressive disposition that resulted in a few inadvertent but jarring hits. Moore is garnered college interest from Oregon State, Arizona Stateand others. His senior season will determine if the buzz gives way to offers.

Attendee List:

  • Dillon Middlemiss (2015 commit, 3-star)

Others that were mentioned on Rivals this morning by KyleM:

In-state QBs Kyle Gallup and Rope Ruel are throwing today for the Buffs too.

They had one wrong. Riley Brand is actually from CA. He attends Orange Lutheran with Keisean Lucier-South 5 star DE/OLB.

Another wrong one: Chris Bounds did not come (wasn't slated to). Got mixed up with Quentin Pounds, who did attend.

Couple guys told me CU said they wanted to review film from the camp before considering offers. Quinten Pounds seemed high on CU, but he was really excited when talking about UCLA. He thought I was Mike McCall, sounds like a good nickname for a message board. Pounds is getting ready for state high jump. He has serious hops.

Me too. Well, one commit would have been 'more'. We didn't get any did we?

I am a bit disappointed in that there is not more movement for a few higher three stars and a few 4 star type players. I know these young men cannot know everything about every program, but if they could have seen the ****show that CU put on the field the last 7 years, then looked at the growth the players showed in a single year under this staff, I think they would be more excited about playing for Mac. I think he will get us into bowl games sooner rather than later, but one this year would really help the process by a huge amount (as far as recruiting).

Where are you getting that there were a good amount of those players?

Kearns was the only 4*, and it does not sound like he should be a 4* recruit at all. There wasn't much fire power at this camp, but the coaches did get a couple players to continually evaluate this Fall (Umu is one). If we got commits from most of those we'd all be complaining about taking their commits this early.
