Per Ringo, who just spoke with HC MM

Solis and Bobo should be good to go this fall.
Kafovalu has work to do, but isn't out yet.
Donta Abron ineligible. (this officially constitutes a downward spiral for him - damn)

mostly positive news there.

Per Ringo: Eligibility of Abron, Bobo and Solis

The good:

The bad (aka, "The Curse of the Snow"):

Good news on Solis and Bobo. Hopefully, Kofavalu gets it done as well. My guess is Abron will be looking at other options. That is a shame because I think he has potential.

IIRC, Bobo tweeted that he needed to take a few summer classes and get at least a "B" in all of them. The first summer session won't be completed for another three weeks. So one of two things happened: One, Bobo was exaggerating his situation; or B) MM is making an assumption that Bobo will do well in his classes based on information that we are not privy to.

Oh, and c'mon Samson. Get this done. We need all hands on deck this Fall.

"Maymester"?

This is something new. I've never heard of it before. Wasn't available when I was at CU. We ran Summer classes for 5 weeks. It started about a week after regular classes ended and ran until right around the 4th of July. Then another Summer session that ran until about a week before regular classes started up again.

Here's the Summer class schedule...

Maymester: May 13th to May 31st
Term A: June 3rd to July 5th
Term B/D: July 9th to August 9th
Team C: June 3rd to July 26th

As has likely already be inferred, it's pretty intense. Cram a semester's worth of info into a few weeks. I would be in favor of any athletes who are suited to learning at that speed to be strongly encouraged to go this route as it opens up their schedule in June and beyond for training purposes. It also gets the news out to us interwebs scum earlier in the offseason that they're good to go so it satisfies the fan demand for news.

And THOSE were some good times.

I'm not any kind of genius, but it boggles my mind how you could struggle with eligibility issues when you have all the support in the world when it comes to academics. I guess some of these kids are just in for a wake up call when they become a student athlete.

I teach high school and you see a lot of kids who say "I want to play in college!" Um, son, you're barely pulling a C right now and you literally have nothing to do after school except play football and sleep. Being a college athlete takes dedication, I wonder why these kids don't understand that going in sometimes.

Maymester = complete joke. No excuse why you can't get a B+ or higher in maymester.

I dunno. I only took one maymester class. I forget what the class was actually called, but it was a literature class and I remember having NO free time between it and my job delivering pizzas for fatty j's. We were expected to finish at least two novels a week and to write papers on top of that. The class most most definitely not a joke.

No you're not a genius. In fact spoken like a uninformed white guy from the burbs.

For some of these kids it takes a complete and total transformation and 100% effort. They didn't prep at Avon. These kids sometimes don't get that they can't coast like most CU freshman and still pull C"s. Some never learn.

But lets not trivialize what some of these kids are up against. Yes, they usually can get thru but not as easily as you'd think.
