MBB Roster updated on team site

Notably, Wes Gordon is up 15 lbs from last year's weight of 225 to 240. Dustin has added 5 lbs to 225. And King may have made a significant progression... going from 6'5" 208 to 6'6" 220. XJ also put on 10 lbs to 230, which is interesting since I think he was slimming down but hitting the weights hard. Fletch also put on 10 lbs to 210.

frontline of:
6'10" 250/255
6'9" 240
6'8" 255

Where do you get XJ being in the frontline? He plays on the wing.

It's hard to say where to put the wing, since Tad's system designs the player as a hybrid who plays both the front and back courts. I think of a guy like Dre who guarded 7 footers the same season he guarded the Illinois PG in the Dance. XJ drew the Wilcox cover, but also drew PFs while Wes was hurt. It's a swing player on the team designed to cause matchup problems for opponents.

I really hope we see the matchup problem XJ a lot this season.

Also Nik, XJ could be slimming down and still gain 10lbs. Muscle is denser than fat.

Scott is trying to get up to 250 for this season, we will see if that happens between now and then.

was Dre a guard? According to Tad....yes. Tad considers wings guards in his systems.

That may be true, but I don't see "guard" when I see XJ. And neither did any of the recruiting sites.

Rivals rating: 4*; #17 SF (#75 overall)
Scout rating: 4*; #12 SF (#57 overall)
ESPN rating: 4*-94 grade; #18 SF (#62 overall)
247 rating: 4*-91 grade; #20 SF (#83 overall)

On top of that, in the case that Abs was referring to, if we had Miller, Gordon and Scott in the game, I'm pretty sure XJ is on the bench.

I guess Tad didn't get the memo that he should check with you or recruiting sites on the positions his players are. Have you checked, I don't know.....the roster?

Also, the other 2 players that play Tad's hybrid-3 for us (Fletch & Dustin) are also listed as G/F.

J-Hop added an inch & 10 lbs as well. Hope it's all true but, I take these things with a huge grain of salt. Eye test is all that matters.

It's Tad's team. He can call XJ whatever he wants. I'd still be surprised to see the group of Miller, Gordon and Scott in the game at the same time as XJ. Do you disagree?

I'd be surprised to see the group of Miller, Gordon and Scott in the game at the same time regardless of who the other 2 guys were.

If Tad wanted to go big, he probably could do that and play XJ since he's one of our best 3pt shooters. Plus, XJ can guard top shooting guards like he did with Wilcox last year. But I don't think his ball handling would be good enough to make that lineup functional. That's what was nice a couple years ago when we also had Chen playing the hybrid-3. Better ball handler, which gave more options.

God, I'm drooling over the possibility of a Dom-XJ-Wes-Miller-Scott lineup defensively. Offense would be scary, but ****....

Go even bigger. Replace Dom with the now 6'6" J-Hop in that lineup.

I don't know that Tad would ever do it, but I love that we now have the roster flexibility that he could do it... and it wouldn't be completely insane. :smile2:

I went with Dom because he's the "better" defender, but if JHop plays D like he was at the end of the year, your lineup would be better. I like it.

If combine numbers have proven anything, it's that Tad doesn't inflate the heights or weights of his players.

At one point last year everyone on the floor was listed and 6'5' or 6'6" and played "guard" for us that was my favorite lineup of the year, I said to goose, we need more 6'^' combo players, looks like we got one.
