So Rick George has been working for CU for 10 months now, what grade would you give him so far?

Credit to Adam on BS for the idea

I don't know in depth details, but the field improvements are going forward. That is what I wanted more than anything and it is a huge step for CU. Kudos for him from moving it from perpetual impending announcement to heavy equipment moving actual dirt.

Dirt is moving, concrete is being poured. Our coaching staffs feel supported.

And it doesn't look like a one time and go back to sleep thing.

A so far.

Money raised and it appears MikeMac is getting the support he needs. It seems he is doing an excellent job. But I can't give him all the credit, it appears the school is finally supporting AD the way it should be. I think the football program is headed in the right direction. I think we are a year away from substantial on-field improvement, but I think this staff will get us there. I think at some point we will be fighting to keep MikeMac.

Rick George is on the right track and has a solid first year, exceeding expectations.

I look forward to him delivering a lead donor who contributes more than Bruce Benson.

One thing really bothers me. I have never heard him say "Go Buffs!" Leaves me wondering if he knows the job.

facilities being improved, AD paying back money owed to the general fund, and I don't know if RG required the admin to pull their heads out before he would take the job, or the admin pulled their heads out and then said lets get a new AD. Either way actually seeing support from the admin for the AD is something that has not happened around here in many, many years.

A+

I think he was brilliant in finding a replacement for Fresno last year.

My only gripe is that I think he has neglected the students in his drive to build the AD. The students are afterthoughts now, and I'm ok with that so long as it is temporary.

There's a project going on right now where the goal is student engagement at football games.

Credit to Adam for this poll idea. He posted this a couple days ago on BuffStampede and made it a podcast topic.

'A' so far. Still a lot of work to be done though, but he's been fast outta the gate. Really hope HCMM is 'the guy' because we can't afford to not claw back to relevance this time. 2nd round of facilities fundraising for Folsom West side and / or Coors will be harder, especially if the football team isn't getting to bowl games. Getting students to attend, arrive early (and not leave at halftime) is also key, gotta keep them engaged.

I gave him an A. Facilities are breaking ground, recruiting is improving etc. I almost gave him a B because I haven't seen anything come out about improving the game day experience, and he is currently saying no to beer sales, but I'll give it time.

I don't know so I'm asking. What has he scheduled so far? UMass?

His OOC games have been weak with some FCS teams. Games like Northern Colorado (which I'm fine with given the state of college football)

Two FCS teams. I do not give George all or even most of the blame, but not a single compelling OOC game through 2017 outside of the one-off in Michigan. Not a good value for casual fans.

No, that was Bohn (and I actually like the scheduling: it's a 2 for 1 with a weak FBS team. About the only thing you can complain about is that the 1 came before the 2, a better situation would have been to get the 2 first, and then buy out the one on the back end )

So far, RG has scheduled:
the last minute CSU game last year
Idaho State in 2016
Northern Colorado in 2017

and... that's it so far. Everything else currently on the schedule was Bohn's doing. Or, in other words, I think the jury is still out on what RG will do for football scheduling.

(Random side note: UMass wasn't the only FBS 2 for 1 Bohn scheduled/negotiated: he also signed SJSU to a 2 for 1, but we agreed to drop one of their visits to Boulder when we hired MM (so that he wouldn't have to coach against of "his" players)).

Do we have those anymore??

All the more reason for him to kill the CSU game. Crappy game that takes up a valuable spot on the schedule every freaking year.

Banking on making bowl games to attract fans. Let's hope it works.

If he can figure out a way to move the CSU game out of Denver, he goes from a B+ to an A for me. Going forward, I really do hope he can come up with a better, more fan-friendly way of handling the students at Folsom. The student-only gate area still pisses me off. No reason for that.

Oh, and move those damn bike racks!!!

What other things drove your grade down from a A to a B+? In my mind it's not even a question what grade he gets because of the facilities and fundraising progress in his short time here.
