Nice article on Fletch

For those that missed it, there's a nice article on fletch here

Great to hear he stayed around town and worked all summer - his was kind of the "forgotten" injury because it occurred about 45 seconds after the mayor and he came back into the game that day.
Looking forward to great things from him this year - if he keeps working like that he's going to cause many problems for opponents.

"I feel like I can have a good year this year if I keep my shot consistent and play defense and rebound, like coach (Tad) Boyle wants," Fletcher said.

I thnk Tad must tattoo every frosh with defense and rebound when they get on campus.

Also good to see he's playing in the Athlete's in Action Tour this Summer and that Rohn is coaching it. I think that Gamble and Jenkins went last summer, looks like something CU must be encouraging players to do, and why not, free trip where you get to play hoops, work on your game and see the world.

Dufault went before his senior year as well.

I was working on some numbers for the team and it's surprising how good Fletch was last year. You have to view it knowing he missed some conference play, but he was still the only frosh to finish with an ORtg over 100.

While never finding his jump shot or consistent rotation minutes.

I had to keep reminding myself that Fletch was performing and that in years past there would have been no question that he would have been a true freshman starter for CU. It has become hard for a frosh to crack the starting 5 -- especially since we had mainstays like Ski and XJ playing the positions Fletch could start at.

So who left boulder this summer? I think Gordon, Scott, Fletch, Hopkins and King all stayed to train here. Did XJ and XT stick around? I could see ski staying here to train.

Dom and Miller got here early and have been training in Boulder.

Misleading thread title. Assumed it was about infamous Chevy Chase character.

DT, XJ, XT and Eli have been in town too. Really the only guy I haven't heard about is Ski (he may have been/be in Boulder, just haven't heard either way).

I am not sure it really is that big a deal where Ski is this summer. He lives in the gym. Whether that is here or in LA he is working hard. Guaranteed.

I believe Fletch will emerge as a starter by conference play. His defensive play will earn him playing time and I think if he can improve his outside shooting he will be the best true wing we've had since Burks.

You think he's going to start?

The starting lineup is assumed to be Scott, Gordon, XJ, Ski, and some combination of Collier, XT, or Hopkins. Who, out of that group, will he supplant?

Don get me wrong. He's a terrific player. I just don't see him starting. I suppose if Ski were to play the point, Fletch could get the nod at the "2".

I really like Fletcher to, but I don't see him replacing any one of the starting 5 this year. If any of the sophomores are gonna start I think it'll be Jaron.

I don't think he'll start at the beginning of the season. I could see Gordon coming off the bench (while still getting major minutes), XJ at the 4 and Fletch at the 3.

Consider it a bold prediction.

I don't think Gordon will come off the bench with his defense. Like Sacky said I guess there might be one game where he does for matchup reasons but Boyle values defense too much for a healthy Gordon to not start.

I don't neccessarily disagree. Like I said, consider it a bold prediction as opposed to an expectation.

I just found out that he has been in Boulder, I agree that he'll be in the gym wherever he's at, that's also why he should be in Boulder as a Sr leader showing the underclassman that type of work ethic.

So back to the article, it said this:

While many of his out-of-state teammates have gone home for the summer, Fletcher remains in Boulder. He sacrificed spending time with family and friends in Tacoma, Washington, so he could be close to CU's training facilities, as well as pick up a few extra credits academically.

Who are they talking about

a lot of them stay for June and go home for July and come back in early August a week or 2 before school starts. I know XJ is doing this.

Another path to Fletch starting (other than XJ shifting to the 4) would be if Ski works out as a PG like he wants to try. If that happened, I think it would be even money between Fletch and Dom to be the 5th starter.

yes, XJ Did not stay all summer.

for those of you thinking JHop will start - I find this interesting as he did much better coming off the bench last year.

Ski has been there all summer. My buddy works at the Event Center and said Ski and XJ would get there at noon and stay until like 11 at night. Josh Scott also looks a lot bigger. Can't fault the effort of these guys.

The fact that Fletch is a point forward who can run an offense doesn't hurt either.

I think Fletch will get a lot of minutes, I'm just not sure he starts. I like the backcourt of Fletch and Dom in 2015-2016, though. Particularly if Scott sticks around.

what does he do at the Event Center during the summer?

I really think Fletch is the best fit we have at the 3. Plus I think XJ is better fit at PF. Don't get me wrong, I'm not down on Gordon at all and I think he totally deserves to start.

You didn't get the memo. XJ is a guard. Sometimes.
