Top 25

Pac 12 teams:
5 - UCLA
8 - Oregon
9 - Stanford
17 - USC
19 - ASU
23 - Oregon State

UCLA seems over-hyped to me. Oregon State is a surprise.

Overall, it seems like a very screwy top 25. Typical over ranking (ND, Oklahoma). Don't understand South Carolina being so high. Time to start playing and sort it out, I guess.

Spurrier is gonna win a title there before he is through. They are expected to do very well in the SEC. Would not surprise me to see them in the SEC championship game.

USA Today is counting down, currently at 23. Significant names (wtf?):

116. California
101. Colorado
73. Colorado St
61. Washington St
52. Oregon St
47. Arizona St
26. Arizona
23. Washington

USA's isn't really a power poll, it's more of a continue the ranking poll all the way to 128. A 6 win CSU team might be ranked higher than a 4 win CU squad in that completely meaningless scenario.

Oregon State is probably around the right place. They don't have top 25 talent but they are close enough for quality coaching to put them higher than some would expect.

UCLA will figure out how to step in it a couple times and end up disapointing their fans again.

Spurrier knows how to put points on the board, even against solid defenses. In a league where a lot of schools are happy to try to be vanilla on offense and beat you with defense that makes them dangerous.

SI historically hasn't been known for being highly accurate about predictions so I also wouldn't get worked up about these.

Getting Hundley back makes UCLA the favorite in the Pac, IMO. OU would be right there with them. I keep waiting for Stanford to fall off, but it hasn't happened yet.

Has Hundley ever really lived up to the hype? He has the physical tools but he hasn't played all that well against the good teams.

I'm not buying into the UCLA rankings either. Wouldn't be all that surprised if they lost to Texas.

Regarding South Carolina, they have a favorable schedule with their toughest games at home aside from the Auburn game.

I'm going to go on record and say UCLA is legit. I think the Pac12 is ridiculously top heavy this year. I could see the top four all trading losses, finishing in the top 12 nationally, and getting shut out of the playoffs.
