Beer Sales Spreading Among Campuses Nationwide

No reason it won't happen. Pac-12 doesn't have the teetotaler influence the Big 12 did with Dr. Tom at Nebraska and the Bible Belt Baptists driving the rules that made the stadiums dry. I have trouble seeing a Pac-12 representative getting on a soapbox to criticize CU if we made the decision to offer beer for sale in our general concourses at Folsom and Coors.

With the culture in California, Oregon, Washington and Colorado with regards to craft beer, I see it as only a matter of time.

According to its contract with concessionaire Sodexo, Troy will receive 43 percent of gross beer sales at its 30,000-seat stadium, or better than $2 for every $5 beer.

wow $5 beers at a stadium.

I think if it ever does happen, we would see a bunch of ****ty beers being sold at Folsom. Get ready to choose between Coors Light and Miller Light for $8 each.

Based on what we've had at the Club room, the choices will likely be Coors Banquet, Coors Lite, and Buffalo Gold. I'd flip my **** if CU could pull off a deal with Avery, though.

Coors Banquet Coors Light Blue Moon/Shocktop and some kind of local micro (Breck, New Belgium, Left Hand) inside. Would not surprise me to see a beer garden of some kind with a better selection outside.

I would start my tailgating a good 8 hours before kickoff if we had a Colorado Craft Beer Pavilion.

considering our new game start times, it would probably be better to stagger over from Pearl Street when the bars close and start tailgating at the Folsom Beer Garden

Besides outside perception, I don't know why they don't do this. They could have 95% colorado brews and bring in 5% crafts from the states of the visiting teams.

The AD would make a fortune.

cool theory, but they will sign with CDC coors and we will get to choose from these brands:

MillerCoors AC Golden Brewing (part of MillerCoors makers of Colorado Native), New Belgium Brewing, Crown Imports (Corona), Diageo (Guinness), Boston Beer Company (Sam Adams), Oskar Blues, Alaskan Brewing, Heineken USA, Anchor Brewing, Asahi Beer USA, Bards Tale Brewing (Gluten Free), Big Sky Brewing ,Boulder Beer Co, Breckenridge, Flying Dog, Gallo (3.2 wine coolers), Magners Cider, Mark Anthony Brands Int'l (Mike's Hard Lemonade), Melanie Brewing (Evil Eye Malt Liq), Moosehead USA, Pabst Brewing Co., Pelican Brands LLC (Singha), Sapporo USA, Tommyknocker, Warsteiner

I'd like to see beer sales return. Might also put a slight dent in people getting extra trashed pre-game so that their buzz lasts during the game with no access to alcohol.

No complaints will be heard from me if we've got some Breck and OB selections at Folsom and Coors.

We had a study or two that showed beer sales in the stadium do exactly that. The main issue is that you have to cut it off at the end of the 3rd quarter to avoid a DUI problem.

1. Create a brewmaster major/emphasis in the biology department.
2. Team up with business school to create some sort of Folsom Brewing Organization/Company.
3. Design special beers for each game
4. .....
5. Profit

You can get a bottle of a wide variety of Odell at Dick's Park. Not sure if they would go for a tie in in Boulder vs. The Fort but I'd much prefer them to Breck, Boulder Beer, etc.

So if we could get one distributor who would you choose:

High Country Beverage - Alaskan, Blue Moon, Coors, New Belgium, Oskar Blues, Tommyknocker, Lagunitas, Sierra Nevada (http://highcountrybeverage.com/brand_category/craft-beers/)
Elite Brands - Bear Republic, Crazy Mountain, Epic Brewing, Twisted Pine, Renegade (http://elite-brands.com/portfolio/beer/beers_unitedstates.html)
Charmer Sunbelt - Anderson Valley, Avery, Great Divide,Pyramid, Odell, Rouge (http://www.charmer-sunbelt.com/BeverageDistr/Brands/Pages/BeerPortfolio.aspx)
CR Goodman - Boulevard, DFH, Firestone Walker, Left Hand, Stone, Upslope (http://crgoodman.com/pages/products/information)

I think that is how the distribution in Boulder works. They split up territory so Great Divide can be distributed by American Eagle up north and Charmer Sunbelt in the denver metro area. I'm not sure what anheiser busch distributes in the metro area in terms of craft beer (anyone work purchasing at a bar?)

Holy ****. Charmer Sunbelt has the best breweries by far

I do like a few twisted pine brews. Alaskan is one of my all time favorites. CR Goodman and Charmer would both be a pretty awesome line up though.

I'll take CR Goodman.

does anyone know the details behind the naming of the keg? Did Coors give a one time donation? Are they actively donating? Are we stuck with Coors and the brands they distribute?

Oh yeah, I sometimes mix up Rogue and Stone in my head for some reason. Dog Fish Head is great but I kind of feel like they are slipping.

I'm sticking with Charmer, though it would be pretty aweomse to get something going on within the University. They'd have to probably cax the "dry campus" thing...
