I like this kid. Got a good feeling. This is not a last minute pickup, this is the coaches discovering someone they knew could help the team and making sure they landed him.

Under the radar but just read that HCMM and Jeffcoat saw him at their satellite camp in HI and really liked him. That is enough for me. Welcome aboard Lyle-other team's loss is our gain!

I'm sure more will come out on him.

Hopefully someone with a Scout sub can quote an interesting snippet with a link so we can learn a bit more.

All I found was that he was at the PIAA UA Combine. Measured in at 6'2" 283 and only ran a 5.55 electronic forty. Doesn't show that he lifted and both the shuttle and vertical were pedestrian. If that's where our coaches found him, it must have been his football character and on-field performance because nothing jumps out with that.

I hope you are right.

Can tell just by the camp tape that he hasn't had much top quality coaching. On each of the measurements taken he looks like a guy who is just winging it without prior preparation, including on the 225 bench, his form is terrible.

He does have a lot of raw athleticism for a kid that big. He is also naturally big, not carting around a big spare tire and a lot of flab flapping around on him. With a solid weight and nutrition program could see him being a legitimate 310-315 lb. D-lineman.

What we don't have is any idea of how he actually plays, no highlight film, not scouting reports. And coming from a small school don't know if they have had a chance to see him line up against a legit D1 prospect offensive lineman and battle.

Well looky, a Hawaiian defender. Absolutely love that we are hitting the islands and their respective communities on the mainland hard even after Cabral's departure. I know CU can't be forever wrapped up in the glory years of the past, but Cabral loved CU as much as he loved Hawaii and made strong connections there. I love what Mac II's staff is doing sending Coach LaRussa for example on an extended tour of the Pacific to find those relationships in this new era of Buff football. Welcome to the greatest decision of your collegiate life, Lyle!

[strike]looks young. definitely has all the checkmark/hallmarks of a HCMM "developmental" recruit. Should be a fun one to watch.[/strike] doh!

Totally agree. I think this kid is the perfect redshirt. He looks like he has a great build and isn't even close to maturing. His bench form is horrible. His running form is horrible. Needs coaching. But obviously showed something to the coaches. Also, can't help building relationships to the islands.
