Gabe was the MVP of the LB group at the All-Poly Camp. Cousins with DT Boogie Sewell, who the Buffs have also offered.

Interestingly, on the hudl highlights he lists himself as a Safety. Kyle McCall reports that MacIntyre is looking at Gabe as a S/LB hybrid and we'll see which position he grows into.

The Buffs project Gabriel Sewell as a linebacker or defensive back at the next level.

"More at nickel back, outside linebacker, maybe some strong safety," Sewell said of where CU has told him the like him at.

From what Doug Kimmel from Scout says height is the issue. He says 5'11" is generous.

If you go to his profile on Scout, there's a photo from the first article on him with him standing next to Boogie. I think they're both around 5'10" if there's the standard inflation going on.

Gabe's a SS in college who will also play nickel.

With this new staff I worried that we were going to lose that great polynesian heritage connection CU has appreciated for so long, but it feels like it has become stronger than ever! Love the Tasmanian devil descriptor (edit, I guess that is for Boogie, but I'd love to have both guys.)

I looked at that a few days ago and one of them is standing in front of the other. My guess is they are both a little short combined with St. George is 4 hours plus from Salt Lake City.

I don't think college programs, even ones from power conferences should get too hung up on height. After all, there are hundreds of NFL players who dominated despite lacking ideal size.

All things being equal, I want height.

But we're recruiting for college, not the NFL. So I'm happy to take the guys like Doug Flutie and Troy Walters that the USCs pass on.

Even if you disagree with the emphasis on height, it still happens every year. I've never seen a study on whether height matters for all positions, but QB is one where it doesn't seem to matter as much as the weight of the QB....FiveThirtyEight

OT. Another Manziel piece. I can't wait until he shìts the bed in Cleveland.

I am also happy to steal Poly players from the yoots. I don't think his height will matter much playing S/LB.

He'd most likely be covering the slot or running backs so I agree with the height.

It's hard to find a LB with good coverage skills coming out of HS. Worth trading a few inches of height for IMO.

Y'all remember Bob Sanders? Short, but a big hitter and play maker. Maybe this guy can be like that.

I'd love to sign Gabe. I think he'd be an excellent Nickel who could cause a lot of chaos.
