9/9/14 Press Conference

Sefo does not expect a shootout. Has faith in his defense.

Has faith that if needed the offense can keep up.

Sefo: Terrance Crowder was key last week. Kept the sidelines pumped and helped the offense and defense.

Spruce is up now.

Not nearly as polished in front of the cameras as Sefo.

Spruce: likes showing that he isn't just a "Possession Receiver"

Ringo asking tough questions.

Spruce: Learned how to fight for 4qrts last week. Learned how to finish. Team believes its anyones games.

Spruce: RG described plans for new facility, believes there is no where like the new facility in the country.

HCMM: Defense made good progress in 2nd half, shut them down except for first drive (4 penalties). Started tackling, started fitting the run, started executing.

HCMM: Really young, saw things started clicking. Defense underclassmen started playing faster and more aggressive.

HCMM: Step everything up another notch. ASU is a tough test.

HCMM: have to be careful with Kelly. Can really run. Can hit the throws. Defense can't be too conservative though.

HCMM: DJ very dangerous runner. Lots of outside runs. Good cutback runner. Sideline runner and can cutback inside. Working on attack angles

HCMM: Shay came on 2nd half of camp. Really showing what he can do. Last game could have been even bigger because he got behind the D.

HCMM: Crowd does make a big difference. Help with the ebb and flow of the game. Help keep team inspired.

HCMM: DL, especially DT's really improved in the UMass game.

HCMM: ST, not working on at all. (kidding) ST did not execute well. Did not shed blocks fast enough. Changed some guys, hopefully will be better.

HCMM: Game starting to slow down for younger players. Repeated mistakes are becoming fewer. Starting to ask smart questions about scheme and play calls.

"Really, really, really, really, really, really young" defense

HCMM: Team starting to recognize personnel groupings on opposing teams. Starting to recognize tendencies and anticipate plays. Light bulbs coming on.

HCMM: Defense starting to recognize plays and are becoming more aggressive. Making on field adjustments.

HCMM: Addison played well against UMass, not as well against CSU. Beat up a little bit, playing through it. (Arm or shoulder soreness is my guess) Feeling better this week than he has the past two weeks.

HCMM: CU got beat from the opening whistle last year at ASU. Team doesn't need any additional motivation to perform well.

HCMM: Phillip ran well. Keep mixing RB's. Heat last week hurt running backs. Rotation helped keep them fresh. Some RB's are a bit banged up.

HCMM: Jaelen (sp) reminds HCMM of Calvin Johnson/Demarius(sp) Thomas.

HCMM: QB is the key to why the Pac-12 is the top conference. Referenced Oregon vs MSU.

HCMM: Everyone should be ready to go (healthy) from last game.

HCMM: Started being able to run in the 2nd half. Caused UMass to load the box, opened up big passing plays.

HCMM: Not sure if he has played all freshman that will play this year. Still working with a couple guys who may play in the next game or two

HCMM: ASU game is not a measuring stick. Expect to win. Want to win. Won't be happy with incremental improvement.
